This section of the APFA Web site has been set up to provide furloughed Flight Attendants with information regarding the status of furloughs and news affecting American Airlines and our industry. There are also links to many different resources available to Flight Attendants on furlough.

In addition to this section of the web site, we encourage all furloughed Flight Attendants to call the APFA HotLine each week at 800-399-2732 and visit the other areas of the APFA Web site for the latest APFA news.

  • Flight Attendants are not dues obligated to the APFA. However, they are considered a "member in good standing" as long as they were dues current at the time of furlough.
  • Flight Attendants will continue to receive Skyword and all other APFA correspondence (as long as they maintain a current address with the APFA Membership Department), maintain access to the "members only" section of the APFA Web site, and be allowed to vote in Union elections and referendum.

If you are not receiving APFA mail including Skyword, please contact the APFA Membership Department either via email at member@apfa.org or by calling 800-395-2732, extension 8153 in order to update your address, phone number and email address. It is very important that whenever you move or make a change, that you make the change with both American Airlines and APFA. American does not provide APFA with Flight Attendants personal contact information. It is each individual's responsibility to update that information with APFA.

Some other airlines in the industry are hiring new employees including Flight Attendants. If you are on furlough and are considering employment with another airline, please be advised that they may require you to resign your recall rights with American Airlines prior to offering you full employment with their company. If you do resign your recall rights with American and you decide to reemployment in the future, you will be required to go through the interview and training process.
