This is Greg Hildreth, APFA Secretary, with an update from the National Ballot Committee for Friday, December 28, 2007. The National Ballot Committee in conjunction with the Whitley Penn Accounting firm has certified the results of the St Louis Domestic Vice Chairperson election. The results are as follows: Willie Aviles received 39 votes, Antoinette Delia received 286 votes and Nena Martin received 586 votes. Nena Martin is the newly elected Vice Chairperson at St Louis and will assume office immediately for the remainder of the two-year term ending March 31, 2009. Yesterday, December 27, 2007, was the deadline to submit a Willingness-to-Serve Notification for the Vice Chairperson position at Chicago International. This is Leslie Mayo, National Communications Coordinator, with the APFA Hotline for Friday, December 28, 2007. Ballots for the APFA National Officer Election have been mailed to all members. Ballots are due in the designated PO Box the morning of January 17, 2008. This is a very important election so be sure to get your ballots in early. If you have not received your ballot, contact the National Ballot Committee at ballot@apfa.org. A replacement ballot will be sent to you. In order for your vote to be counted, you must be a member in good standing. If you are in dues arrears or are not a member and would like to become one, please contact the APFA Dues Department at dues2@apfa.org or call 817.540.0108, ext. 8152. AA has announced that effective January 1, 2008, all Super Saver 401 (k) plan participants will be eligible to make Roth 401 (k) contributions as well. Visit JetNet for more details. The APFA Negotiating Team is in the final stages of preparing its first Membership Online Survey to be made available to all members in good standing beginning January 8, 2008. This survey will assist the Team in determining APFA’s Openers in the spring. The Team will also be sending a letter to all APFA members as a reminder about the importance of your participation in this survey. The Negotiating Team sent a Holiday Card to the AMR Board of Directors and senior AA management. The front of the card contains a quote from CEO Gerard Arpey dated September 16, 2003, in his letter to employees which reads as follows: "My strongest hope and expectation is that everyone will share in the rewards that our ongoing efforts will produce in the future.” To see this card in full please visit the APFA Web site. VF Solutions will close at 1400 Central Time on December 31 for phone orders. You may order uniform items via the web until 2059 Central Time on the 31st. After that point, any unused uniform points will not be rolled over into next year. The last few days of the year tend to be the busiest for VF solutions. So plan accordingly to ensure your requests are received. APFA Headquarters will be open on Monday, December 31, and closed on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, for New Year’s Day. If you need union assistance, call 817.540.0108, and follow the prompts for the after-hours representative on-duty. Headquarters will reopen on Wednesday, January 2, 2008. We still have 1,200 APFA members still on furlough awaiting recall. That’s it for this week. Thank you for calling the APFA Hotline and have a safe and Happy New Year. |
