This is APFA President Laura Glading with a special Hotline Update for Wednesday, May 19, 2010.
The Strike Authorization Ballots were counted this morning and Flight Attendants overwhelmingly voted YES to approve a strike authorization – 90% of the membership voted – 96.8% voted YES.
With this vote, the company now knows - without a doubt - we are unified and will do whatever is necessary to get the contract we deserve. A contract that recognizes the sacrifices we made in 2003 and continue to make.
I want to personally thank everyone for their participation and support. As we continue meeting with the company this week in Washington, we remain hopeful to achieve an agreement. We must stay strong and unified to maintain this momentum in order to reach our goal.
It's OUR TURN now and we will NOT back down.
