New York City

Ground Zero, New York City: The National Sept. 11 Memorial and Museum is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, Shanksville, Pa. and at the Pentagon. Due to capacity restrictions, the memorial will be dedicated on Sept. 11, 2011 in a special ceremony for the victims’ families only. A small coalition of invited United Airlines and American Airlines Pilots and Flight Attendants will be attending the ceremony to represent all members of both unions.

The memorial opens to the public on Sept. 12, 2011 with the reservation of a free visitor pass. More information is available at www.911memorial.org.

Washington D.C

Pentagon: Pentagon ceremonies on Sept. 11, 2011 are expected to be for family members of the victims and survivors only.

Washington Nationals Baseball Game v. Houston Astros: APA DCA Family Awareness is pleased to host an afternoon at the Washington Nationals Ballpark on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1:35 p.m. In observance of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, the Washington Nationals will conduct a pre-game memorial ceremony on the field. Uniformed American Airlines and United Airlines Pilots will participate in this event, representing Pilots, Flight Attendants and passengers lost on that day.

Washington National Cathedral: The National Cathedral is hosting three concerts as part of the commemorative weekend of the 9/11 attacks. Friday, September 9, 7:30 PM –

A Concert to Honor, featuring Brahms' Requiem with the Navy Band Sea Chanters and Marine Chamber Orchestra including remarks from military leaders dedicated to 9/11 victims, survivors, service members, first responders, and families.

Saturday, September 10, 1 PM –
HEAL
A Concert to Heal, featuring varied popular music by local musicians a day for gathering as a community for new strength, with music encouraging interfaith understanding across cultures and generations.

Sunday, September 11, 8 PM –
HOPE
A Concert of Hope, featuring music, readings, and reflections with Denyce Graves, the Marine Chamber Orchestra, and other artists and musicians.

Pennsylvania

Shanksville, PA: The National Park Service in Shanksville, Pa. will be hosting several events honoring the crew and passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 during the upcoming 10th anniversary weekend of Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. Uniformed airline crewmembers are welcome and encouraged to attend any or all of the upcoming public events, which can be found by clicking here. There will be a dedication for the new permanent memorial on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 12:30 p.m. and the 10th anniversary commemorative service will be held on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 11 at 9:30 a.m. Please wear your full uniform. Large crowds are expected, so please plan accordingly and arrive early.

Garden of Reflection - Yardley, PA: The 9/11 Remembrance at the Garden of Reflection will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. with the ringing of a fire bell, and will conclude at 10:10 a.m. with the placement of a memorial wreath. The Garden of Reflection is located at 1950 Woodside Rd. in Yardley, Pa. More information is available at www.9-11memorialgarden.org.

On Saturday, Sept. 17:
Yardley, PA: The eighth-annual 9/11 Garden of Reflection 5K run/walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 17. The Garden of Reflection was created to remember and honor all of the nearly 3,000 killed on Sept. 11, 2001, including 18 from Bucks County. The run/walk raises money for the ongoing maintenance of the memorial. Please visit gor5k.com for additional information.

Boston

On Friday, Sept. 9:
At 10 a.m. memorial ceremonies will be held at the Boston Logan Airport 9/11 Memorial site, adjacent to the Hilton. The ceremony is open to the public, and includes speaking presentations and reading of the names of local victims of 9/11. Pleas wear your full uniform.

On Sunday, Sept. 11:
At 7:30 a.m. there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the Contemplative Garden Memorial located in Boston Public Garden (Arlington Street entrance side). Crewmembers are encouraged to attend this in full uniform.

At 8:30 a.m. there will be a flag-lowering ceremony on the Massachusetts State House lawn located on Beacon Street. Crewmembers are encouraged to attend this in full uniform. Additional information is available at http://www.massfund.org.

At 6:00 pm: Crewmembers are invited to a remembrance gathering on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Greatest Bar in Boston at 6 p.m. Connect with fellow airline employees and honor the significance of this day in our history. A private room has been reserved and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Atlanta

The Paulding County's 9/11 Ceremony will commence at 9:00am on Sunday, September 11. Participants include retired FDNY and NYPD and local crewmembers. This is a great ceremony to share with the entire family. The event takes place at Liberty Garden in Mt. Tabor Park, 1550 E. Elk Grove Village: A rededication of the Memorial Garden in Friendship Park is planned at 08:30 a.m. Sunday, September 11, 2011. Friendship Park is located at the OPC (formerly EXO) and further details are forthcoming.

DFW/Grapevine

Grapevine, Texas: The 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial Foundation will host morning and evening memorial ceremonies on Sept. 11, 2011. Ceremonies begin at 7:30 a.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. The 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial is located north of D/FW Airport at 1000 Texan Trail in Grapevine. The foundation encourages uniformed crewmembers to show their support for this event. For additional information, visit www.911flightcrewmemorial.org.

Grapevine, Texas: The Grapevine Palace Theatre at 300 S. Main Street will be screening two 9/11-related movies on Sunday, Sept. 11. United 93 will begin at 1 p.m. and is rated R. The Guys begins at 4 p.m. and is rated PG. Tickets cost $5 for each movie.

Fort Worth, Texas: Memorial Courtyard at the American Airlines Flight Academy/SOC Highway 360 and FAA Boulevard. The memorial service commences at 8 a.m., CT, so please plan to arrive early. Seating is limited, but there will be accessible standing areas and interior overflow space. Please bring your AA ID badge if you plan to attend. Parking: C.R. Colorado

Golden Wings Gala, Sept. 11th
The Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund is holding the 2011 Golden Wings Gala at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver, Colorado (www.pinehurstcountryclub.com) from 5 - 10 p.m. Guest speakers include UAL Retired Captain Al Haynes (UAL Flight 232, Sioux City, Iowa 1989). Golden Wings Golf Tournament, Sept. 12th
The Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund and Pinehurst Country Club have teamed up to host The First Annual Golden Wings Golf Tournament and you’re invited to join us in this celebration of the future of flight. The Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 by Sandy Dahl (Jason’s wife) and concerned friends. The Fund is a Colorado Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and awards annual scholarships to aspiring college students enrolled in a degree program leading towards profession pilot employment.

Over the past 9 years the Scholarship fund has awarded 20 scholarships, 10 scholarships to Metropolitan College of Denver students, and 10 scholarships to San Jose State University students. For the last two years the scholarships have been awarded at a $5,000 level. This year the Captain Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund is also awarding 5 $1,000 scholarships nationwide to students at accredited colleges pursuing degree programs leading to professional pilot employment. DENTK: A 9-11 ceremony will be held at the Denver Training Center on Sunday, September 11, 2011 to include dedication of the buildings and other observances of the tenth anniversary of 9/11/2001. Further details will be forthcoming.

Colorado Springs, CO: The City of Colorado Springs and a group of dedicated citizens is pleased to host a Day of Remembrance on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 8 a.m. This is the official event for the greater Colorado Springs area and will include distinguished speakers, honor guards from the fire, police and the USAF Academy, a choir and a flyby by the Colorado National Guard. California

San Diego, CA: The New York Fire Department Retirees of Southern California has invited us to participate in their annual 9/11 Memorial for First Responders. All are invited to attend, friends and family, it is free and open to the public. We ask those who have uniforms to come in full uniform. The ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2011 on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum, 910 North Harbor Drive, alongside Navy Pier. Services will include: The Presentation of the Colors by the US Marine Corp Honor Guard, the San Diego Emerald Society Pipes and Drums, the San Diego Fire Dept., Orange County Fire Dept., the US Border Patrol, the Irvine Police Dept., Singing of the Star Spangled Banner accompanied by the US Navy Band and a four jet flyover in the Missing Man Formation, an eleven star wreath presentation by the Commander of US Navy Southwest, and Guest Speakers. This will then be followed by the reading of names, SDFD Helicopter Flyover, 21 Gun Salute, and Twin Taps.

Since this years’ anniversary memorial is so special the dinner reception, hosted by the FDNY Retirees of California, will be held on the flight deck of the USS Midway immediately following the memorial ceremony so stay and enjoy a wonderful reception, complete with entertainment, good friends, and hopefully a marvelous sunset.

Pacific Northwest

Sumas, WA: The Border Memorial is pleased to host a 9/11 Remembrance on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. in Sumas, WA. This cross-border tribute is hosted by fire and police departments from Canada and United States. Uniformed crewmembers are from all carriers are encouraged to attend this event. Bremerton, WA: The Kitsap 9/11 Memorial will have its ground-breaking ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 12 p.m. at the City of Bremerton's Evergreen Rotary Park. The Evergreen Rotary Park is within walking distance of Bremerton's Washington State Ferry terminal. The Kitsap 9/11 Memorial Committee was able to obtain two of the largest pieces of steel released by the Ports of New York and New Jersey. All crewmembers are welcome to attend in uniform.
