National Officers Candidate Information Booklet

National Officer Ballot Count

This is Cindy Horan, Chairperson of the APFA National Ballot Committee. Today, January 18, 2012, the National Ballot Committee certified the results of the National Officer election. The results are as follows: for President Liz Geiss received 2769 votes, Laura Glading received 2149 votes and Rock Salomon received 1882 votes. For Vice President Mike Baust received 1753 votes, Marcus Gluth received 2886 votes and Anne Loew received 2125 votes. For Treasurer Jennifer Brissette received 1991 votes, Jamie Gillard received 1719 votes and Greg Gunter received 3053 votes.

In any balloting for National Officer, the candidate receiving the majority (50% plus 1) of the valid votes cast for an office shall be deemed elected to that office. If no candidate receives a majority vote there will be a run-off election between the two candidates receiving the highest number of valid votes.

There will be an election for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The candidates for President are Liz Geiss and Laura Glading. The candidates for Vice President are Marcus Gluth and Anne Loew. The candidates for Secretary are Vicki Dale and Jeff Pharr and the candidates for Treasurer are Jennifer Brissette and Greg Gunter.

Ballots for the National Officer Run-Off election will be sent by January 26, 2012 and votes must be cast by February 24, 2012.

A document has been posted on the Election and Balloting Page on APFA.org that includes a breakdown by base. Direct link here.

National Officer Election Update

The National Ballot Committee advises that in the candidate information booklet that was mailed with the ballots, there were spelling errors in the last names of three of the references for Marcus Gluth, a candidate for Vice-President. The correct names are L.D. Crumly, Margaret Barnes and Beth Kilcran. In addition, under the Labor Relations Background section for Marcus Gluth, on the 17th line, a letter “a” was missing in the word “arbitration.” These errors have been corrected on the copy of the booklet that is being posted on the website, www.apfa.org. Just follow the link for National Officer Elections.

Also, some flight attendants have received campaign literature by e-mail, and have asked how the candidate got their e-mail addresses. APFA does NOT give flight attendant e-mail addresses to any candidate. Instead, we provide the addresses we have on file to an outside company, Allied Union Services, on a confidential basis. A candidate who wants to distribute campaign literature by e-mail submits the material to Allied Union Services, which then sends it out as an e-mail blast. The candidate, not APFA, pays for the e-mailing. Again, APFA does not give any candidates the e-mail addresses we have on file.

National Officer Election 2012

An Election Notice and a Notification of Willingness-to-Serve (WTS) for the National Officer elections recently was mailed to your home. Although the WTS accurately states that it is for the National Officer positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, the Instructions section of the Election Notice mistakenly referred to candidates who wish to run for other offices. The error has been corrected and the revised version of the Election Notice is now posted on apfa.org. However, the original WTS is still valid, and will be accepted. If you wish to view the updated version of the Election Notice, you can download it by clicking here.

WTS RDUI and STL Vice Chair 2011

The APFA National Ballot Committee will be conducting elections for National Officers and Base Officers. Candidates will have the option of distributing their campaign literature by e-mail. APFA will not provide any Flight Attendant’s e-mail address directly to the candidate. Instead, we will provide the e-mail addresses APFA has on file to a third-party vendor connected with BallotPoint, the company that handles APFA’s electronic balloting. Candidates will provide their literature to the vendor, who in turn will distribute it to the e-mail addresses on file. The addresses will be used by the vendor only for purposes of e-mailing campaign literature; the vendor will not disclose the e-mail addresses to the candidates or to any other person or entity.

To be sure that you receive all information that candidates may send by e-mail, if your current email address is not on file with APFA, please send it to member@apfa.org along with your name and employee number.

If you have any questions, please contact the National Ballot Committee at ballot@apfa.org.
