This is APFA President John Ward with a Negotiations Update. Today is Saturday, June 30, 2001. The time is approximately 7:15 Eastern Time.
I’m pleased to report that APFA and American Airlines have just reached a Tentative Agreement, in principle, on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement subject to finalization of contract language and approval by the APFA Executive Committee. This process is expected to take an additional 7-10 days and no details of the T/A will be released during this process.
We appreciate your patience during this time period. The APFA Negotiating Committee will submit this T/A to the Executive Committee with a unanimous endorsement.
On behalf of the Negotiating Committee, thank you for your unwavering support. In addition, APFA thanks Secretary of Transportation Norman Minetta and the members and staff of the National Mediation Board for their assistance in reaching this agreement. This Hotline will be updated as events warrant.
