This is Denise Pointer with an InfoRep Hotline.
On August 31, 2007, I submitted my resignation as a member of the InfoRep Steering Committee (ISC) to the National Officers, the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of APFA after serving in this capacity by Board appointment during the February 2006 APFA Convention. I have thoroughly enjoyed serving the APFA membership as a member of the InfoRep Steering Committee. The InfoRep program is an extremely valuable and important communication tool and one that I will always be very proud to have been associated with.
I leave this position in very capable hands as we approach one of the most critical and important challenges of our career – 2008 Negotiations. I am pleased that Jeff Pharr has agreed to take over my position on the Steering Committee as an interim ISC member until the Board of Directors meets and makes a permanent appointment.
Jeff is the MIA Domestic Vice Chair and one of six appointed members of the 2008 Negotiating Team. He is an excellent communicator and will be an incredible asset to the InfoRep Program.
Thanks to all of you who remain involved with the InfoRep Program. I have enjoyed getting to know so many of you through emails and during base visits. It has been an honor to serve my Union on this level.
In Unity,
Denise Pointer, DFW
Thank you Denise. Hello Everyone!
This is Jeff Pharr, interim member of the InfoRep Steering Committee.
I want to thank Denise for passing the program to me in such great shape. She has done an outstanding job. As Denise has already stated, I am currently the Vice Chair for MIA and an appointed member of the 2008 Negotiating Committee. I am very excited to be the interim member of the InfoRep Steering Committee, sitting with the National Communications Coordinator and the APFA President. As a reminder the purpose of the InfoRep Program is "to encourage membership participation in the exchange of information regarding the activities of the APFA, with particular emphasis on information regarding the negotiations for the Collective Bargain Agreement between the APFA and AAL" in accordance with APFA policy. I look forward to sharing information with you – the members who have stepped up to the plate to keep the greater membership armed with thorough and accurate information. I have been an InfoRep since the beginning of the program in 1991 and cannot express enough how important your role as an InfoRep is to the success of our Union.
My official role as a member of the 2008 Negotiating Team will not begin until the elected Negotiators are in place, which brings me to the subject of my first e-mail: Negotiator Elections.
Please remind your crews to VOTE! Ballots for the elected Negotiators were mailed last week. Review the candidate information that comes with your ballot thoroughly. If you are still not sure who to vote for, speak with other Flight Attendants, your base representatives or other APFA leaders whose opinion you value for their feedback. Most importantly – cast an informed vote for these very important positions.
Each member in good standing may vote for up to three candidates in your division – International or Domestic. If you have not received your ballot by September 24, please leave a message for the National Balloting Committee at 800-395-2732, ext. 8311 and a replacement ballot will be sent to you. You may also read the candidate information booklet online at www.apfa.org – click on Negotiations ’08 and select your Division.
If you are not dues current and would like to be eligible to vote in this election, please contact the Dues Department at 800-395-2732, ext. 8152. Ballots are due in the designated Post Office Box no later than 9:00 a.m. October 4, 2007.
