InfoRep Update:
ï 10OCT Informational Leafleting/Picketing
In an InfoRep Hotline released before October bids closed, we announced the mobilization of the InfoReps for an Informational Leafleting/Picketing event on Friday, October 10. The event will be held at DFW, LAX, LGA and MIA airports, 11:00 a.m. ñ 2 p.m. local base time. This will kick off the Informational Leafleting/Picketing portion of our Mobilize to Maximize campaign with a message specifically targeted to our passengers. As outlined during the Road Shows in July, public support is essential during negotiations. More details, including time and place to gather for your particular airport will be posted on the www.apfa.org website early next week. If you are interested in participating, please reply to this e-mail with ëARPT YESí in the subject line (e.g. MIA YES).
ï Road Show Videos
Videos from the Negotiations Road Shows have been posted on the www.apfa.org website and can be accessed from a link on the main page. Flight Attendants attending the shows told us they came away with their questions answered and concerns alleviated. If you were unable to attend the Road Shows or would like to review the information again, please visit www.apfa.org. There is an additional Q&A video in which APFA President Laura Glading answers the most common questions received at the Road Shows.
Legislative Update
This is APFA Negotiator Ray Baylis with a Legislative Update:
Working with APFA lobbyist, Joan Wages, the APFA Executive Committee endorsed numerous House and Senate Representatives running for re-election, plus candidates running for first time office.
In a push to support those who will be sympathetic to our issues, the campaign offices of these endorsed candidates have or are being contacted. Beginning the week of Monday, September 29 we began to marshal the volunteer forces of our numerous InfoReps that signed up for legislative work.
The candidates have asked that we volunteer to man phone banks in the evenings, take, and place five or more free yard signs in your neighborhood or with friends, or just pitch in with general work at a campaign headquarters.
If you are an InfoRep signed up for legislative work in a district and/or state with one of these APFA endorsed candidates, you will be contacted for your help. In addition, we will forward to you their campaign information.
In mid October, complete campaign information on these candidates will be e-mailed to all APFA members in that specific district. This grass-roots effort by our members is much appreciated by APFA and the prospective candidates. Having a friend in Congress who understands the needs of the airline industry will be so important in the coming year.
If you are not signed up for legislative work, but would like to be included, you may update your area(s) of interest by clicking the InfoRep tab on the www.apfa.org main page. Or you may e-mail us directly at [email protected] and let us know to include you in our legislative database.
