Negotiations Update

Once again the scheduling subcommittees met this week. Talks continued on Article 10-Reserve. Wednesday afternoon the subcommittees heard a presentation from the Horizon programming group. This group is working with American to develop an enhanced crew scheduling/crew tracking system that will eventually replace FOS. The committees are scheduled to meet Wednesday and Thursday next week. We expect discussions to continue on Article 10.

The compensation subcommittees met Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week signing off on two additional articles, Article 14 Seniority List and Article 33 No Strike-No Lockout; neither party had any changes to these articles. The subcommittees also exchanged proposals on Article 5-Uniforms and Accessories, Article 12-Filling of Vacancies and Article 19-Leaves of Absence; those discussions are ongoing. This subcommittee will be meeting internally next week.

InfoRep Update

Thank you to the many Flight Attendants who turned out Friday, October 10 for the PAXforPAX informational picketing event and launch of the paxforpax.com website. The campaign was well received by both the passengers and the media. We received substantial media coverage in the base cities hosting the event; Dallas/Ft. Worth, Los Angeles, NYC and Miami. The Associated Press also picked up the story as well as the Washington Post. Details of the campaign have been outlined in previous InfoRep Hotlines that can be viewed in the InfoRep section of www.apfa.org.

The company announced this week technical issues with the Benefits Service Center. Anyone making changes to their 2009 benefit elections prior to October 13 should revisit JetNet to verify their changes were accepted. Changes can be made as many times as needed before the enrollment deadline of midnight, Central Daylight Time Friday, October 31, 2008.

The Presidential Debates are over and the election is just 18 days away. Bidding is now open for November. Donít forget Election Day, Tuesday November 4 as you sort your bids. If you choose to vote absentee and have not requested your ballot, please visit longdistancevoter.org for deadlines and ballot applications.

When planning our schedules for next month, we cannot help but notice this November will bring the 15th anniversary of our strike against American Airlines. Keep an eye out for events planned for November 18. Announcements will be made via the InfoRep and Regular Hotlines and on the www.apfa.org website.
