NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE
The APFA Negotiating Team continues to prepare for mediation. Federal Mediated talks are set to begin, in DFW, next week.
The follow-up Scheduling Opinion Survey will be posted online next week. We will notify you via this hotline once the survey is available.
VOLUNTEER TO FLY (VTF)
The VTF trial period began yesterday at DCA, DCA-I, DFW and IDF. The VTF program will allow Regular Line Holders and Reserves on DFPs the option to bid to be available for open time that becomes available and would normally go to Ready Reserves, in exchange for guaranteed pay. Your Negotiating Team feels this program has the potential to reduce the number of Flight Attendants serving Reserve. The program will run for 60 days and will make available, valuable data for the Team. Attached is an updated VTF Q&A Document to assist you in answering any questions you may receive.

DID YOU KNOW?
In the CBA of 1947, Article VII-Hours of Service was one (1) page long. It limited a Stewardess to a scheduled monthly maximum of 85 hours. In actual operations, a Stewardess’ monthly schedule could increase up to 90 hours. Additionally, a Stewardess was limited to flying 255 hours a quarter.
Today, Article 7 remains Hours of Service, and has increased in size to eight (8) pages. It provides for a monthly schedule maximum of 77 hours, for Domestic Flight Attendants, not including “pure” bids. In actual operations, a no option Flight Attendant’s monthly max is 80 hours, and the quarterly max has been abandoned.
