InfoReps,
HEADS UP!
The APFA has become aware of a concerted effort by flight service and the companyÃs security department to monitor Flight Attendants who have been notified of missing liquor deposits. We have confirmed the security department is monitoring liquor safe locations and observing targeted Flight Attendants making liquor deposits.
In addition, AA security is doing onboard rides monitoring targeted Flight Attendants. Some tactics have included the use of marked money, observation of individual FA sales and discreetly observing the Flight Attendant making scheduled deposits. At the completion of the trip, crews are being held and interviewed. Should you be involved in an investigation, contact APFA immediately.
Should you have questions or concerns on liquor procedures, information is available in your inflight manual. You may also contact your APFA representative with specific questions.
NEGOTIATIONS
The full APFA Negotiating Team met in Washington, DC this past week on Monday and Tuesday. The scheduling and compensation sub committees met with the company and the mediator on Tuesday and through the remainder of the week. The communications subcommittee also met to plan the Membership Outreach visits in June.
Please plan to attend one of the meetings next month. We hope the agenda for the meetings will be to provide details of a Tentative Agreement (TA). Should we not reach a TA prior to the meetings, we will be brining everyone one up to date on where we are in negotiations as well as what will be expected of the membership in the coming weeks. It is so important that everyone be informed, involved and engaged.
PINS AND WINGS
Please spread the word! Your Negotiating Team needs all Flight Attendants to help us turn up the heat and show the company we are unified and we mean business. We will start by going back to ëPins and WingsÃ. Beginning June 5, please wear only your union pin, wings and name tag. Please move all non-mandatory pins to your serving garment. What seems like a small gesture speaks volumes to management! We will be distributing union pins during the Outreach Meetings next month. Should you need additional pins, please e-mail us here in the InfoRep program at [email protected] or the Membership department at [email protected].
Again, more information about membership involvement will be outlined at the Outreach Meetings. Encourage your crews to attend one of the meetings. IÃve attached the calendar to this hotline to print and carry with you. Base Outreach Meeting information can also be found on the www.apfa.org website.
FAA in LAX and NYC
From the Safety Department:
The FAA will be in LAX June 2 conducting manual checks. They also will be traveling between LAX and NYC on various AA flights through June 5. While flying between these two destinations, they will be conducting FAR compliance checks and manual checks. They will be doing random checks in NYC during this time as well. Make sure your manual is up-to-date and as always strictly adhere to all FARS while working your trips.
DID YOU KNOW?
In 1971, Appendix M of the Collective Bargaining Agreement allowed for a Stewardess who became pregnant to be granted maternity leave. At that time, a pregnant Stewardess was not allowed to fly. Her only choices were to resign or be granted a maternity leave.
