Seeing Red Check

On Friday, May 14, 2010, American Airlines is distributing checks from the Annual Incentive Program to all Flight Attendants. This time, the company is requiring Flight Attendants meet with their managers to receive a Thank You for their hard work in achieving company objectives and funding the executive bonuses.

As a way of getting our point across to management, we are asking all Flight Attendants to print out the attached check document and hand it to the FSM when they pick up their AIP pittance. Not only does your AIP check fail in comparison to the executive bonuses, it would never cover the concessions that the company would like you to accept in a new contract. Also, management wants to inconvenience you by forcing you to find a manager that is rarely there, and then go to the bank to deposit the check.

When comparing your AIP check to the amount on the face of the check for your manager, it is important to realize how this value was conceived. The amount on the check is the value of the savings generated per year by the RPA ($340,000,000) times the duration of the RPA (7 years) for an estimated total of $2,380,000,000.00. Take that and divide it by the total number of Flight Attendants at American (18,000) and each Flight Attendant saved American $132,222. As our way of thanking American for the check, we are deducting the $150.00 off the total, so they still recognize an estimated $132,072.00 savings from your hard work!

Please print out your check and as many copies as you would like so you can distribute them to as many Flight Attendants as possible so they can be given to Flight Service management. Let them know that a true thank you for all we do is an industry leading contract and we will settle for nothing less!
