Membership Action

After Tuesdayís voting results were revealed we have seen a change in the political climate in Washington, D.C. This is of particular importance to us because the FAA Reauthorization Bill is still stalled in Congress. Please take a moment, if you have not already done so, to write to your Congressional leaders asking them to support the FAA Reauthorization Bill during this session of Congress. You may contact your Senators and Congressmen by writing to them directly or by following this link to our CapWiz page or via the ìTake Actionî tab on our Facebook page.

Last week we announced a Call to Action for all APFA members. We are each invited to share our personal stories with the NMB in an effort to allow the Railway Labor Act to work as it was intended to by allowing APFA to enter into a 30 day cooling off period. Visit our CapWiz page or the ìTake Actionî tab at the top of our Facebook page to send your personal letter. You may also set pen to paper and write the three members of the NMB directly.

FAA

As a reminder the FAA will be in SFO Tuesday, November 9th and Wednesday, November 10th.†Base manual audits will be performed in conjunction with the FAA visit. Flight Attendants flying in and out of SFO should expect to have their manual audited by both the FAA and local Flight Service. As always, please make sure that your manuals are up to date. You may find a list of the latest revisions and bulletins on the Flight Service website under the ìManuals and Guidesî link.

Industry News

On Wednesday Delta Flight Attendants rejected union representation. Of the nearly 20,000 flight attendants 50.9% voted against AFA representation. Delta management has stated that the NW F/As will come in with an increase to current Delta F/As pay.† However there was no mention of benefits, work rules or pension. Delta made many promises and touted their ‘Delta Family’ during their anti-union campaign.†Search ‘Delta Union Vote’ on YouTube to see what lengths management went to in their campaign – it is truly nauseating.†In a statement, AFA announced it would submit "interference charges against Delta management for their illegal and unfair methods to sway the vote".There are two groups of ground workers currently voting on union representation at Delta.
