STANDING UP FOR WORKERSí RIGHTS

Workersí rights across America are under attack. As we continue our fight to get a contract that Flight Attendants need and deserve we must also stand in solidarity and join the battle for the rights of labor and against the erosion of the middle class. Each week we will keep you updated on the latest news, events and information in this important battle.

Please note that there will be a rally this Saturday, April 2, 2011 in DFW please click here for information on the place and time.

Stand Up for Workers at the National Day of Action on April 4

We Are One, the labor movement and a growing list of allies are gearing up for the biggest nationwide mobilization of workers in decades on April 4, the day in 1968 that Martin Luther King was murdered while supporting striking sanitation workers in Memphis.

From wearing stickers that say, ìStand Up for Workers’ Rightsî to rallies, leafleting, community outreach, teach-ins, candlelight vigils and more, events will be taking place across the United States. Get involved with a group of your fellow Flight Attendants and stand in solidarity with workers on April 4. Hereís a link of events happening across the country http://local.we-r-1.org/.

Union Organizing Under Attack by House GOP

A provision was added to the FAA Reauthorization Bill that would force the National Mediation Board (NMB) to revert back to the old voting rules for union elections.†Under the old rules a ìnoî vote would be automatically assigned to workers who are eligible to vote, but did not participate.

Can you think of any other election that works that way? Of course not! Itís undemocratic and unfair.

The vote in Congress is scheduled to take place this week.†We must make sure that this provision must be removed from the FAA Bill.

Please call or write your Representative today!†APFAís Capwiz has been activated for easy access to your Representative.†Log on to capwiz.com/apfa or click ‘Take Action’ in the left menu on our Facebook page.
