FACT Rep Introduction—September 28, 2013

Dear FACT Members,

I would like to begin this week’s team update by introducing myself. My name is Michael Truan and I’m a DFW domestic-based flight attendant. I have been representing flight attendants for APFA since 2004 both locally as well as at APFA Headquarters as a contract and scheduling phone rep.

I was honored to be one of the flight attendants elected to the new APFA Negotiating Team by the membership a few months ago. I have a passion for union work and assisting my fellow flight attendants in every way possible. 

I am very excited to start working with each of you. We have put so much information out there, but there is a lot of galley gossip, too. We must get out the facts and assist our coworkers with the most accurate and complete information available. From AA filing Chapter 11, to the LBFO, the merger with US Airways, the Department of Justice (DOJ) lawsuit, and the US Airways Bridge Agreement (CLA or Conditional Labor Agreement), can you just imagine how much confusion is out there? Actually, of course you can. That is the reason I am so excited you have chosen to become part of the FACT.

I need your help harnessing the “galley gossip” and getting the facts out there:

1. What are you hearing on the line? Rumors, questions and concerns?

2. Are there FA questions you don’t have answers to? Ask them for their email address and contact me ASAP at [email protected] I will get that answer for you so you can pass the info along. That way, you – as the FACT member they spoke with – will contact them once you have the facts.

And finally, I would like to ask you to invite a coworker to become part of our team. Ask them to send an email to [email protected] that includes their full name, base and employee number. We need all the help we can get to make sure our members are informed – and this is a great start.
