Dear Fellow Flight Attendant,

The 2014 Midterm Elections are fast approaching and in Arizona there are a number of races that are important to Flight Attendants. All of these races are very close and each and every vote will count. APFA would like to underscore the records of four candidates running in Arizona and ask that you consider supporting them on November 4th.

First Congressional District – Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick
Rep. Kirkpatrick is running for her second term and has been a strong friend of Flight Attendants fighting against allowing cell phone conversations on planes and opposing the elimination of the ban on knives. Born and raised in Arizona, she is a common sense legislator fighting for the middle class.

Second Congressional District – Rep. Ron Barber
Rep. Barber is also running for his second term. Prior to being elected to Congress, he served as district director for Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’. Following the attempted assassination of Rep. Giffords, during which Rep. Barber also sustained injuries, he won a special election to finish her term. Rep. Barber has fought hard for Flight Attendants and for the middle class and has always stood with Flight Attendants on the issues that matter.

Ninth Congressional District – Rep. Kyrsten Sinema
Rep Sinema’s story is one of a young woman who knows what it is like to struggle just to meet basic needs. She faced poverty, homelessness, and abuse but overcame them all to serve in the Arizona state legislature. The first openly bisexual person elected to US Congress, she has been serving for two years, fighting for working men and women. She understands our issues and has stood with Flight Attendants.

Governor’s Office – Fred DuVal
A member of the Board of Regents and a former top aide to Governor Bruce Babbitt, Fred knows how to get things done for all the citizens of Arizona. Active in the renewable energy business, Fred knows we cannot keep relying on foreign oil and has repeatedly shown himself to be the type of innovative thinker we need in the 21st century.
㾐
We are encouraging all Flight Attendants to take a close look at these candidates and consider supporting them on November 4th. We need people in Congress and in the State House who understand our issues and are willing to fight for us.

In Solidarity and Unity,

Laura Glading, APFA National President
