FACT:  The Allied Pilots Association (APA) Board of Directors accepted the Company’s JCBA proposal in principle and will send it to their membership for ratification.

FACT:  Next week, January 13, 2015, crew members out of uniform will be permitted to use the KCM checkpoints. Crewmembers using a KCM checkpoint are exempt from the TSA 3/1/1 Liquid, Aerosol, and Gel (LAG) restriction. However, if you are selected for random screening while not in uniform, you must comply with all TSA screening requirements including the 3/1/1 LAG limitation.  For more information on the KCM program please visit www.knowncrewmember.org

FACT:  The LUS Transition Payment of $3,000 will be issued to all eligible LUS Flight Attendants on January 26, 2015.  To be eligible, a Flight Attendant must be in active status (i.e. in regular active pay status, on a medical leave and not exhausted FMLA time, Military, Maternity, Adoption, or Paternity leave and not on any other unpaid leave of absence) on January 15, 2015.

A Flight Attendant taking a VLOA for the month of January is considered to be in active status and will be eligible to receive the transition payment.

FACT or fiction?

Q:  When will purser/lead pay increase for LAA and LUS?
A: May 2, 2015 for LAA and LUS.

Q: When will non-pursers be able to bid for position 1 on Caribbean sequences at LAA?
A:  As soon as the company is able to program the changes necessary for bid awards.

Q:  I have jury duty next month. Will I be paid 4:15 per day?
A:  At LAA, no. Until PBS is implemented at LAA, which is currently scheduled for 2017 at the earliest, jury duty will be at full-trip removal pay provided it falls on a day you are scheduled to fly. Once LAA is under PBS, it will be paid at 4:15 per day.

Q: When will Mexico flights receive the International Override at LAA?
A: May 2, 2015

Q:  When will LAA be able to pick up trips for extra hours during vacation?
A:  When PBS is implemented, currently scheduled for 2017 at the earliest.

Q: When will the Reserve rotation begin at LUS?
A:  Not until Full Operation Integration (FOI)

Q: When will the first year of straight Reserve for new hires begin at LAA?
A:  When PBS is implemented, currently scheduled for 2017 at the earliest.

Q: When does the 35 hours in 7 days replace the current 30-in-7 for LAA reserves?
A:  35-in-7 will be implemented once the international and domestic divisions are merged, currently expected May 2, 2015.

Q: Does the commuter policy for both LAA and LUS now allow exceptions if the flight is full?
A:  As of January 1st, if the first flight is cancelled and the second flight is full, this will now qualify under the JCBA Commuter policy. If the first flight is full and the second flight is cancelled, this does not qualify under the Commuter policy because the first flight being full is not sufficient.

First Flight Second Flight
Cancellation, Equipment Downgrade or Delay Cancellation, 30+ minute delay, or Full Flight

Q: When will the actual “out” time (code 59) apply to LUS and what is covered under the provision?
A: Implementation will be January 31, 2015 which is the first day of the February contractual month.  In the following situations FAs will receive flight time pay and flight time credit prior to the actual time out from the point at which the aircraft was ready for immediate departure:

  • Delay at the gate awaiting pushback, power back or taxi out due to airport congestion.
  • Deicing.
  • Maintenance performed after departure from the gate but prior to take-off.
  • Delay at the gate awaiting pushback, power back or taxi out due to congestion with deicing operations off the gate.
