Hello FACT Reps,

FACT: The APFA On-Duty Contract Guide (ODCG) is now available for the Flight Attendant Tablet. Make sure your tablet is charged and not in airplane mode in order to receive this update. The ODCG is located in the document library. Contact the Help Desk at 1-800-343-0343 if you are experiencing any difficulty receiving this update.
 
FACT: Your ePays statements should now reflect the company’s 401(k) contribution

·    401(k) match became an age based contribution for those on the seniority list as of 4/12/12
 
FAs under 40 years old – 5.5% contribution
FAs 40-49 years old – 6.75% contribution
FAs 50 years and older – 9.9% contribution
FAs hired after 4/12/12 – 3% contribution and up to 2.5% match after one year of service

 
FACT: Effective January 31, 2014 (contractual month of February)

  • 8:59 Duty Aloft for Domestic returns
  • On-Duty Limitations for Domestic returns
  • Monthly Limitations lowered to 90 hours with ability to flex no more than five (5) hours per month and twenty (20) hours per year  

FACTJCBA (Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement) = New contract to be negotiated by a team made up of both AA and US Airways Flight AttendantsThis new contract will cover the combined Flight Attendant workforces of American and US Airways.

FACTBid leaves are NOT awarded to:

  • Flight Attendants who have Combined International Training scheduled for month being awarded.
  • Anyone with an open absence (i.e. on sick list at the time bid leaves are being awarded).
  • Flight attendants with expired qualifications. This includes flight attendants in their grace month with no training scheduled.
  • In addition, the flight attendant must be eligible to hold a bid award for that month. (Absences ending in the month prior to bid leave request month are eligible, if the absence is closed.) 

Flight Attendants can request a bid leave that would be consecutive to an existing leave. The existing leave will simply be extended by the bid leave awarded.

Seniority and travel privilege conditions may be affected.

FACT: Bid Leave on Reserve
Reserve Credit: Flight Attendants on reserve list that are awarded a bid leave will get credit for reserve.  However, Flight Attendants bidding on to reserve with vacation or after being granted a leave of absence will not fulfill his/her reserve rotation obligation and will not get reserve credit.  (Reference: Article 10.S, APFA/AA Contract)

FACTINTERNATIONAL OVERRIDE
$3 per hour paid on all international legs including deadhead and pay & credit. Includes trips not flown e.g. SK, VC/VX, SA, AP, BR, JD, etc.

FACT: GROUND TIME…… $15.00 per hour
Ground time is NOT automatically paid. HICLAIM must be filed to receive ground time pay.

  1. BOARD EARLY: Paid when required to board early with passengers prior to scheduled boarding time. Begins at actual boarding time and ends at scheduled boarding time.
  2. STAY LATE: Paid when required to remain on board with passengers at the end of a duty period. Ground time starts at later of scheduled or actual arrival and ends when FA relieved of duty.
  3. THROUGH FLIGHTS: Paid when required to stay on board with passengers for more than 30 minutes. 

FACT: HOLDING TIME…… $15.00 per hour
Holding time is NOT automatically paid. HICLAIM must be filed to receive holding time pay. Only paid at flight origination; begins 30 minutes after scheduled departure and ends at actual gate departure. Does not apply to ATC holds.

FACT: PERSONAL VACATION DAYS
Flight Attendants may request an unlimited number of paid personal vacation days (PVDs) up to the anticipated vacation accrual for the following year. 
 
FACT: PVDs FOR ALL NIGHT TURNS
A turnaround touching 2 calendar days is charged as one 1 PVD. 
 
The personal mode entry to monitor PVD usage is: HIVBB.
VC/VX and PVDs paid at full trip value or Reserve/AVBL daily value until PBS is implemented.
 
Q & A
Q: Do I have to attend dual-qualification training if I am very senior?
 
A: The Company publishes a voluntary ballot every month proffering dual-qualification training. In the event of an insufficient number of proffers, the company will draft Flight Attendants in reverse seniority order.
