FACT Rep Update – May 15, 2014
FACT: The Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) met with the Company on Tuesday May 14th to receive the Company’s response to our Joint opening proposal presented on April 24th. Any updates on the meetings will be provided to the membership via the JNC Hotlines and posted here.
FACT: An AVBL day obligates Flight Attendants to AVBL assignments by 1330 in day before coverage when a sequence has not been pre- or self-plotted or awarded via HISEND. After 1330, the Flight Attendant’s obligation ends and, because the Relief (RL) rules now apply to all AVBL FAs, the Flight Attendant may request flying that flies out on that released day and possibly conflict with future AVBL days. The intent was to permit flexibility to all AVBL FAs and it has generally been used to plot HISEND or MU/CC flying from the FA’s assigned operation.
Prior to Adjacent Base (AB) flying, there was not an opportunity for Domestic Flight Attendants to request International flying (or International to request Domestic flying) into those future AVBL days. However, with the implementation of AB flying, an AVBL Flight Attendant may request to fly an AB trip (if not plotted a trip by 1330) into their AVBL days after all MU and option flying has been offered to Flight Attendants at that base. Since most AB flying has been DOM accepting INTL trips, APFA will be monitoring closely any impact to INTL reserve utilization and evaluate if modifications are necessary.
FACT: Travel advisory from Jetwire for Summer 2014 non-rev travel embargoes
Due to expected heavy flight loads in the summer, Employee Travel Services has instituted non-revenue D3/SA7P buddy/guest pass travel embargoes to and from several international destinations, on both American Airlines and US Airways.
The embargo will include all legacy AA and legacy US D3/SA7P buddy/guest pass travel to/from the following markets:
EDI, May 24 – July 31
FCO and TLV, June 1 – Aug. 31
LHR, June 20 – Aug. 15
AMS, ATH, BCN, BRU, CDG, DUB, DUS, FRA, GLA, HEL, LIS, MAD, MAN, MUC, MXP, SNN, VCE, and ZRH, July 1 – Aug. 15
ICN, July 20 – Aug. 19
Although no embargoes will be imposed on D3/SA7P buddy/guest pass travel to/from ANC, HNL, LIH, KOA, and OGG, non-revenue buddy/guest pass travel is strongly discouraged this summer due to high load factors. For full details on the 2014 summer travel embargoes, visit Jetnet or Wings.
