FACT:  The Joint Negotiating Team and American Airlines are meeting this week in PHL. Current discussions continue to focus on Scheduling and Scheduling related items. Approximately 40 days with 33 face-to-face meetings remain in the 150 days of negotiating as agreed to in the Negotiations Protocol Agreement.

FACT:  Once a Tentative Joint Collective Bargaining Agreement (JCBA) is reached it will be put before the combined membership for ratification.  Should the membership not ratify the agreement, or if a Tentative Agreement could not be reached, only then would it go to Binding Arbitration.  Only contractual items remaining in dispute would be subject to binding arbitration should a Tentative JCBA not be reached.

FACT:  As Preferential “mock” Bidding continues on the US Airways side, APFA continues to learn how the bidding process works for all Flight Attendants including those who are on Reserve.  Under PBS reserves would build their own schedule by bidding for specific Duty Free Days (DFPs) rather than the current system of selecting among pre-arranged DFPs. When bidding, a calendar displays the targeted number of reserves needed for each calendar day.  Reserves would then bid for DFPs based on “must off” and “prefer off” for desired DFPs during the month simply by clicking on the calendar day and selecting one of those two choices.  While awards would still be based on seniority, reserves would see much greater control of needed DFPs throughout the month.
