Q: What is Duty Free Slide and how do I waive it? If waived will it be for the entire month or a set DFP’s?
A: While on reserve, the preference for a duty free slide is to let Crew Scheduling know that you’re willing to be contacted out of Time Accrued Reserve System (TARS) order for an assignment that would go into your Duty Free Periods (DFP). Your DFPs would then ‘slide’ to after the completion of the assigned sequence. You would not be relinquishing any DFPs. To preference for this in DECS enter: HIDFP/Y/month. This option is month specific, and once set, will remain set for the remainder of the month unless you unset it.

Q: If I bid for a trip that touches both my vacation and a bid leave, will I get paid for the whole trip?
A: Yes, you will get trip removal pay for all trips that touch your vacation block. The bid leave does not change your vacation compensation.

Q: Where in the red book or JCBA does it state that there will be 3 overlapping RAPs in a period of 24 hours?
A: The Red Book states that 3 RAPS can be created in Section 12.G.1. JCBA Section 12.G.1 states that each Reserve Availability Period (RAP) is 12 hours and no more than 4 RAPs per day. So yes the RAPs will overlap.

Q: Could you provide a link to commuter parking reimbursement?
A: JCBA Section 4.D for parking reimbursement was implemented on April 1st, 2015. Please see this JCBA Hotline for more details.

Q: If I have an OE trip and call in sick, do I get paid for the trip if I have sick hours?
A: Yes, sick pay for OE was implemented on May 2nd, 2015. Sick pay for OE trips is not automated yet and must be done manually. You will initially see the trip removed with a 15 removal code and unpaid. Pay Comp will have to manually put the SK designator and pay in. If you do not see the adjustment within 3-5 business days, send a HISEND (14) or give Pay Comp a call through VIP-CREW.

Q: What is the responsibility of a jumpseater in case of an emergency?
A: From the inflight manual General Policies and Guidelines page 1.16:
In the event of an emergency evacuation, the non-working jumpseat occupant must adhere to the following:
– Immediately stand back out of the exit areas
– Allow the flight attendant working the trip to assess, operate the exit, etc.
– Follow verbal commands of the working crewmembers
– Do not assume command of an exit
– Be alert to the movement of the working crewmember, as not to interfere with door operations, assessment and/or movement to a secondary exit, if necessary.
While FAs make excellent candidates to brief as assistants in a planned emergency situation, they should only assume the duties and responsibilities as described for able bodied persons on the Planned Emergency or Planned Ditching Checklists.

Q: Passengers boarded and ready to go and then ground stop. Pilots don’t know about code 59. There was a 3 hour delay with passengers on the plane. How do we get paid?
A: Please see this Scheduling Hotline for details on how Code 59 is paid for LUS. Until the ACARS units can be harmonized throughout the LAA and LUS fleets, LUS pilots should contact their respective Chief Pilot’s office to file a claim rather than sending an ACARS message as LAA pilots do. Pilots will need to provide the information requested on the claim form for proper filing of an RFD claim. Pilots have been reminded to include Flight Attendants names and CATCREW numbers at the bottom of the form.

Q: If I put in for a transfer am I able to turn it down? When are transfers processed?
A: There are two types of transfers: Mutual and Vacancy. You are unable to rescind either once awarded. Please see the following links on the Flight Service page for more information including processing deadlines: Vacancy Transfers, Mutual Transfers.

Q: When sitting OPR, are we allowed to pass a trip like we could with the old system?
A: See Redbook Section 12.F.16. “An OPR will contact Daily Scheduling at the commencement of her/his shift to provide her/his pairing preferences. A Reserve may give multiple pairing preferences consistent with the ISAP standing bid functions. All pairings will be offered on the basis of domicile seniority and pre-established preferences among all Flight Attendants on a specific OPR shift. If the pairing’s departure commences in more than one OPR shift, the pairing shall be awarded to an OPR from the earlier OPR shift. If a pairing does not meet the preferences of any OPR in the respective shift, such pairing shall be assigned to the most junior OPR on the respective shift who is legal and available for the entire pairing. An OPR shall not be assigned a pairing into her/his Moveable Day(s) unless she/he is the only OPR available to operate the pairing and Crew Scheduling is unable to split the trip prior to her/his Moveable Day(s).”

Q: I was bid denied a selection due to a conflict with the first trip of the next month. Why wasn’t I awarded the selection and just removed from the conflict? Is this a change?
A: No, this has not changed. This is unique to long-range and extended long-range flying. See Bidding Tips for Combined Operations on the Flight Service page which has the following:
“A bid will be denied if a schedule conflict exists with the first trip of the next month and that trip is a long-range or extended long range sequence. As a reminder for previously International Flight Attendants, the home base rest waive reduction to twenty four (24) hours does not apply to the bid run.”
