Sensitive Security Information – LAA/LUS
Sensitive Security Information, also known as SSI, is information that if publicly released, would be detrimental to transportation security. The TSA has determined that disclosure of SSI information would —
- Constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy (including, but not limited to, information contained in any personnel, medical, or similar file);
- Reveal trade secrets or privileged or confidential information obtained from any person; or
- Be detrimental to the security of transportation.
Specific examples of information that should never be posted on social media include, but are not limited to:
- Flight Service Manual Information, including specific security policies and procedures
- Sequence/Pairing Details
- Layover Hotel/Transportation Name and Information
Keeping this information confidential not only safeguards you, but also your fellow crewmembers. Help us to continue to work in a safe and secure workplace at all times. If you have any questions, please contact APFA National Safety and Security Chairperson, Kelly Skyles, at [email protected].
New Crew ID Badge and the Gold Chip – LAA/LUS
The gold chip is a feature that is included in the new badge known as a contact chip, and it functions similarly to the contact chip on many new credit and debit cards. For most employees it is currently not functional. It allows our IT Department to develop new capabilities in future projects. For example, in the future, it might be used as an alternate way to sign in to a company computer. For today, it’s mostly a conversation starter. Rumor control: it absolutely is not a tracking device. That rumor is neither credible nor factual. It is also a feature of all badges, not just crew badges. If you have any questions, please contact APFA National Safety and Security Chairperson, Kelly Skyles, at [email protected].
Holiday Pay Guidelines – LAA/LUS
Holiday Pay – JCBA Section 3.J:
In addition to all other compensation, a Flight Attendant working on a sequence/pairing or serving Reserve Standby/On Premise Reserve (OPR)* duty, which touches a “Compensated Holiday, i.e., Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and/or New Year’s Day, shall be paid seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per holiday.
* “Standby/OPR” is a Reserve who has been awarded or assigned Standby duty in uniform at the airport without a specific flight assignment for the purpose of covering a sequence/pairing in order to prevent a delay. A Standby/OPR may also be utilized for the purpose of deplaning, boarding or remaining with through passengers on the aircraft.
General Rules:
- Flight Attendant must work on the actual holiday to receive Holiday Pay
- If FA is earning TAFB (Per Diem) on actual holiday, including during report or debrief, FA will receive Holiday Pay**
- No Holiday Pay for ready Reserve (on RAP), anyone on planned absence, or full sequence cancellations
