Meet Our Newest Member: Keith McCarty

We’re pleased to welcome Keith, who began his career as a LGA-Based Flight Attendant in 1998 and has held several positions in both Flight Service and Human Resources including: Flight Service Manager, Project Manager (HDQ Flight Service), and Senior Specialist (HR Corporate Policy). In his current role as Manager – Contract Administration, Keith was one of the Company negotiators for the 2014 JCBA and has been assisting the JSIC with its implementation.

Keith replaces Paul Kinsey (Senior Manager – Flight Service Operations) who will be focusing on the implementation of other, non JSIC-related Flight Service initiatives as we gear up for 2016.

3 hours “Show, No Go”

If you report to the airport for a specific flying assignment and end up not flying or fly less than two (2) hours, you’ll receive three (3) hours of pay and credit. References to two (2) hours pay and credit in the “Red Book” in Section 10.J.11.a-b will now be paid and credited at three (3) hours.

Deadheading: Options for Obtaining Your Boarding Pass

Similar to leisure travel, you can check-in for a deadhead flight up to 24 hours ahead of time. Doing so will give you a chance to change your seat assignment and secure a slot on the upgrade list.

One way to obtain a boarding pass is online via Jetnet. Click on Travel, then Non Rev Travel Planner (NRTP), then click on “Import Sabre PNRs” (lower right hand corner of screen), and enter your flight number, departure city and departure date. Click on “Import Sabre PNR” again and your deadhead PNR details should appear.

If you use the online option and receive a boarding pass with a seat assignment, you do not need to re-check in with an agent at the gate. Alternatively, if you opt not obtain a boarding pass online, you may request one at the gate.

Assigned a middle or non-reclining seat? If a reclining window and aisle seat is available at the time your reservation is made, you should automatically be assigned such seat. If only middle and/or non-reclining seats are available at the time your booking is made, you can check with the gate agent to see if a more desirable seat has opened up prior to departure. 

Standing by for an upgrade? The agent will call your name if you can be accommodated. Otherwise, you may either pre-board or board any time after boarding has commenced.

Foreign Language Speakers

We’ve been asked whether any near term changes are anticipated with respect to the LIP and LODO programs for legacy US Airways flight attendants. Given the vast differences between how speakers are assigned to trips at each legacy airline, we anticipate the program will remain status quo in 2016.

Personal Day Policy

The Personal Day policy will change from a calendar period to a rolling 12 month period beginning January 1, 2016. As part of this transition, everyone will “start fresh” in terms of the number of allowable personal emergency days beginning January 1.
