- July PBS Bidding
- APFA Retirement Seminar
- Commuter Parking
- RedBook Contract Training
The LUS Base Representatives, along with members of the JIRC committee, and Jaimie McNeice, APFA Scheduling Chair, continue to push the Company for performance enhancements to the Electronic Trade Board. Beta testers from each crew base will be testing all improvements and enhancements prior to the launch to ensure they do not affect the performance of the system.
I requested the breakdown of transactions for ETB usage for May- PHL had 1,787 Flight Attendants utilizing the ETB. We had 10,187 successful transactions.
Please continue to report problems with log in or performance issues to the FARC call center, 1-800-327-0117, prompts 2 and 8.
We are just as frustrated and disappointed in the progress as you are. I assure you your base representatives are doing everything we can every minute of every day to make sure the Company provides the best system possible for our Flight Attendants.
July PBS Bidding
In PHL, we have 360 Reserves for June and the July requested number is 370. Obviously, the numbers in PHL are significantly lower than the other LUS bases. July of 2014 we had a 17.5% Reserve factor and they are estimating a 15.2% for this July. The flying in PHL from April to July has increased by 22%, and our Reserve numbers has only increased by 5%. PHL is open for transfers in August, as we are told to expect an increase in 321M “Chaser Position” flying.
We continue to have discussions with the Company on specific issues that are directly affecting our Flight Attendants flexibility, namely the 3% open pairing Daily/Monthly restriction in ISAP/ISAP AIL, and UBL. June is the first month that we exceeded that restriction in PHL. For the past few days, we have been below the open pairing day restriction. The trip coverage update line will be updated every day so we will know the monthly open pairing numbers, and you will be able to more accurately determine if a drop/pick-up transaction is likely to be approved. Keep in mind, the open pairings change nightly as ISAP is processed, thus changing the monthly and daily restrictions.
Information about the monthly restriction can be found on WINGS, the ISAP Manual included in the PBS binder the Company provided and the 2013 LUS RedBook Contract Section 10.3 pages 10-23 to 10-28.
APFA Retirement Seminar
Patrick Hancock, APFA Retirement Specialist, will be holding a retirement seminar in PHL on July 8th from 11am- 2pm in the Tour Room, located in the hallway between concourses C and D. This informative seminar will cover many topics that will help Flight Attendants make the most of retirement planning. This is an excellent seminar, not only for those who are planning for retirement in the next few years, but for those who are just beginning their careers to learn how to plan for retirement.
We believe most all the commuter parking issues have been resolved. Please let us know if your commuter parking claim is denied.
PHL Base Meeting
We are currently working to secure a location for a base meeting in August. As soon as the date and time are finalized, we will make sure it is posted prior to the PBS bidding timeline for August.
RedBook Contract Training
APFA will be conducting a Contract training class for anyone who wishes to volunteer to attend. After training, you may also work at APFA Headquarters in DFW on the Contract Desk as an LUS Representative answering calls and assisting Flight Attendants with Contract issues. The next training dates will be July 28th & 29th. If you are interested, please contact Brent Peterson APFA Contract Chair at email@example.com.
