American Airlines Announces Record Profit for 2015

Well, well, well… $1.3 billion profit for the 4th quarter, and $6.3 billion for the full year 2015 – how nice for American Airlines.  What about the front line employees that are scratching their heads in disbelief? It amazes me that we are able to get an airplane off the ground with all of the Scheduling and IT issues we have had to endure for the last year.

If Senior Management really wants to live up to their slogan ‘Going for Great’, they should take a considerable amount of this profit and put it back into the operational needs of this carrier. Additionally, this Company should financially recognize the efforts of their overburdened workforce.

The Flight Attendants at the new American have endured nothing short of a nightmare since this merger began, including continuous IT issues, scheduling and operational failures, and non-stop catering problems.  We also have had to deal with continuous payroll issues, pay claims, and FMLA related issues on a daily basis, with no end in sight.

The morale of this work group is at an all-time low, and this Company simply does not care.

On behalf of the PHL APFA base representatives, I would like to say ‘Thank You’ to our Flight Attendants for showing up to work with pride, and for continually being the consummate professional when representing  this Company; a Company that has shown no respect for our profession.

Thank you.

In Unity and Solidarity,

Kim Kaswinkel
APFA PHL Base President
