FACT Check – LAA

CCI Notification

Q: I received a notification on CCI for a change to my sequence. Is this the official way we are being notified?
A: No. In addition to standard email notices and the opt-in text notifications already in place for legacy American crew members, sequence change notifications are now sent directly to the CCI (Crew Check-In) application on Flight Attendant tablets. The same feature can also be accessed on personal devices when downloading a new version of mobile CCI, available from the Flight Service website.

The three systems do not alter existing schedule change notification procedures. Crew Scheduling will continue to call Flight Attendants to confirm sequence changes resulting from cancellations or other irregular operations (IROPS).

The automated notifications provide Flight Attendants with advance notice that something about their sequence has changed, and directs crewmembers to CCI to view updated information about immediate or upcoming trips. The tools are intended to reduce waiting time when calling Crew Scheduling, and strengthen overall communication regarding sequence updates.

Crew Scheduling Feedback Form – LAA/LUS

As previously announced on March 15, 2016, in order to better effect change for our members, APFA has created a Crew Scheduling Feedback Form for you to submit your experiences with Crew Schedule, Crew Tracking, Crew Scheduling Systems and the Hotel Limo desk over the next 30 days. We want to hear if you had a good, bad or ugly experience and if you believe there was a contractual violation.

Submitting the form will not replace the need to contact the appropriate APFA representative to pursue an individual resolution or file a Notice of Dispute. This information is intended to give us examples to use in our discussions with the company in an easy to review and search format.

Next month, after April 15th, we will share your feedback, including how many members submitted a form and the top issues. We look forward to hearing from you.

Secondary Vacation – LAA

Secondary Vacations will be posted in HI10 no later than 1600 CT on Wednesday, March 30, 2016.

Pay Comp Issues – LAA/LUS

  • If you are an LAA Flight Attendant having a problem with hours and pay reflected on your monthly activity record (HI1/HI2) please continue to send HISEND form 14 to Pay Comp.
  • If you are an LUS Flight Attendant having a problem with hours an pay reflected on your Pay Summary in CatCrew, please continue to send Claims.
  • If you are having a problem with pay and deductions on your pay statement, please send an email to Payroll at [email protected]
  • If you have not had a response within 3 business days, please send an email to [email protected]

Last Five Days Sequence Protection (L5D) – LAA

For Flight Attendants who are experiencing cancellations for the last trip in the last five days of the month, if contacted prior to sign in, Flight Attendants are only required to be on the Make Up list and to participate in the HISEND MU Round for each Day Originally Scheduled To Fly (DOSTF).

Your Guarantee is NOT automatically protected. The Flight Attendant must participate in the applicable HISEND MU Rounds (and be on the MU list for all days originally scheduled to fly plus 8 hours which may require the Flight Attendant to add their name to the MU list an additional day). The obligation window is indicated in your HI1 header after the cancellation. If the Flight Attendant opts out of protecting their guarantee, then the guarantee is incrementally reduced by the value of the sequence (if the Flight Attendant is at or below guarantee in PPROJ).

Also, a Flight Attendant is only obligated to participate in the HISEND MU rounds on DOSTF and to accept a single trip of any length that signs in within the obligation window until midnight of the last day of the month (originally scheduled trip plus eight (8) hours after scheduled arrival time). If the Flight Attendant does not participate or does not bid enough (and doesn’t state “plot to protect guarantee within obligation” on their HISEND message), the protection will be lost. If not plotted then the Flight Attendant may choose to participate in subsequent MU/II/CC/AB proffer rounds and may decline proffered flying without losing protection.

Please refer to the Scheduling page at APFA.org for a more detailed explanation including the Pay Protection Flow Chart for L5D.

For trips that do not meet the parameters of L5D, please follow the regular Misconnect, Illegality, and Cancelation (MIC) guidelines which can be reviewed on the scheduling page of APFA.org or in the On Duty Contract Guide, page 16-18.

Crew Meals – LUS

Flight Attendant crew meals will be provided when the total block hours for the day is scheduled to be 8.01 hours or greater. In addition, Flight Attendant crew meals will be provided when working a Transoceanic International (TI) flight. Such meals will be the same as those provided to the Pilots working the flight.

Flight Attendant monthly crew meal schedules are located on Wings under the heading Home > Workgroups > Flight Service > Bidding

Should you not receive a meal prior to departure, contact Flight Service Daily Operations immediately at 888-222-4737 (available 24 hours a day). They will take the key information such as date, flight number, city pair and crew member information. This team will then coordinate with the local catering department to arrange a meal at the scheduled or a down-line station.

In a case where you are not provided with a scheduled crew meal and Flight Service Daily Operations is not able to arrange one, you are permitted to secure food from an alternative food provider (airport vendor) that day for reimbursement. Submit the receipt for reimbursement to Flight Service for actual, reasonable meal expenses.
