Wage Increase and Profit Sharing

American Airlines has finally realized in order to live up to their slogan, “Going for Great”, they need to recognize the hardworking front line employees who strive every day to make our airline great.

Doug Parker announced yesterday he would be offering a 6% wage increase effective April 1, 2016 with a additional increases of  2%, 2% and 3% for the remainder of the current collective bargaining agreement. The Company will also be setting up a profit sharing fund by putting 5% of every pre-tax dollar they earn into a profit sharing pool to be paid out in 2017.

With all of the procedural changes and all of the other implementation problems we have had to endure, we still wear our uniform with pride and come to work with the same deep- rooted dedication.  We also believe the success of this Company has everything to do with our front line employees, and we should share in the rewards of the record profits of the world’s largest airline.

We appreciate that American Airlines has listened to their employees, and has chosen to recognize that we do have a major impact on the daily operations of our airline.

Brussels Attacks

Our crews returned safely yesterday from Brussels and were met by PHL APFA, CIRT Representatives, and PHL Flight Service. We are very thankful that the crews and ground staff in Brussels are all safe.

These incidents require us to be very diligent, and have excellent situational awareness when traveling internationally and domestically. Please do not venture out alone if possible, and make sure someone on your crew knows your plans. Also, pay very close attention to warnings that are in effect in your layover city. If you are advised not to go out, please heed those warnings. Knowing the whereabouts of our crewmembers helps us to formulate an effective extraction plan if that becomes necessary.

Stay safe, and take care of each other.

In Unity and Solidarity,

Kim Kaswinkel
