WINGS PHX Summer Blitzes Continue

WINGS Summer Blitzes – June 29th, 30th and July 1st

Tomorrow through Friday, you will see local WINGS volunteers in the Flight Service check-in room conducting blitzes to:

  • Educate Flight Attendants on how WINGS assists Flight Attendants
  • Encourage enrollment to financially support those WINGS assists
  • Provide information on recycling specific to the PHX base
  • Invite other Flight Attendants to volunteer their services to help bring WINGS information to all LUS Flight Attendants

We’ll also have WINGS inventory available including the vintage American Airlines afghan, Stylus/pen/flashlights, vintage note cards and cookbooks!

WINGS Assistance Statistics for 2015

  • Over 150 American Airlines Flight Attendants were assisted for a total of $875,000
  • LUS Flight Attendants were assisted with over $160,000 of the $875,000
  • WINGS receives approximately $30,000 a year from LUS Flight Attendants

Pegasus Project Donations

Did your Pegasus Project donation get directed to the WINGS Foundation? You can find out by stopping by the Blitz.

Your Pegasus donations were not automatically directed to the WINGS Foundation after Pegasus closed their doors. Unless a Flight Attendant contacted United Way to make this change, their donation was redirected to the American Airlines Family Fund. We need to rebuild the funds that were going to Pegasus in order to continue helping Flight Attendants through the WINGS Foundation. You have the following options:

At the end of this three-month campaign, all donors who have already been donating, or who have enrolled during this campaign and who give on a recurring basis will be included in a drawing for the following:

  • 25,000 AAdvantage Miles Awards (Two Drawings)
  • Framed Costa Rica Destination Picture
  • City of Phoenix Gift Basket
  • First Class Amenity Kits from each airline making up American Airlines
  • WINGS American Airlines Vintage Afghan

We would like to thank all PHX Flight Attendants who currently donate to the WINGS Foundation. Your donations make an incredible impact on the lives of Flight Attendants who have limited resources. On behalf of all Flight Attendants assisted by The WINGS Foundation, thank you for your generosity!

You may volunteer for any of these upcoming WINGS events by contacting PHX-Based Flight Attendant Daniel Smotherman at [email protected] or 602-692-5191.

The Wings Foundation is a non-profit organization, formed & managed by American Airlines Flight Attendants. Volunteers administer support to AA Flight Attendants applying for assistance who are in critical need of financial help. Assistance may be available to those experiencing serious illness, injury or disability. It may also include those affected by a disaster or catastrophic event which ultimately causes a major financial hardship.
