Systems Scheduling and Hotel Issues

We continue to have Flight Attendants negatively impacted by issues encountered with Systems Scheduling. Common complaints are:

“The phone just rang and rang.”
Fact: Since Operations Control Center (OCC) was moved to DFW adding 8,500 more Flight Attendants, available phone lines actually decreased.  The Company last week said they are still working on it.
 
“There is just silence”
Fact: The prompt system is cumbersome, and needs updating. When the caller doesn’t even know if they are still connected there is a problem. 

“When we finally arrived at the hotel there was no reservation.”
Fact: Unlike LAA, there is no designated Hotel Desk for LUS to handle Hotel re booking & transportation issues.  It is done through Systems Scheduling who often is busy and overwhelmed handling crew rescheduling.
 
“We tried numerous times to get through or were on hold indefinitely.”

“We were told we had to do a Forced Double-Up.”
Fact: A Flight Attendant cannot be forced into a double-up. She/he must be provided minimum FAR domicile rest in between the pairings. LUS Flight Attendants are still operating under the 2013 Red Book Section 10 Scheduling Language.  When you feel there is a possible Contractual violation reference your Contract via the Tablet, the LUS On-Duty Contract Guide, and check with your Union Leadership and Representatives. This is especially important to assist with ongoing Notice of Disputes (NODs) and possible Presidential Grievances. 

Uniform Presidential Grievance

Speaking of Presidential Grievances… Due to your feedback, APFA National President Bob Ross filed a Uniform Presidential Grievance on 12/21/16 to address those Flight Attendants still being affected from reactions and health issues related to the new uniforms.

They say “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” Indeed.
