Expanded Maternity/Adoption Benefits – LAA/LUS
American Airlines made the groundbreaking announcement this week that beginning March 3rd, 2017, they will be expanding the resources that are available for employees who may plan to become pregnant or adopt a child.
We commend them for making this decision. What was not mentioned in their announcement, however, is the involvement of APFA and the credit that is due the APFA membership in making this happen.
Our members and our representatives have been incredibly dedicated in their efforts to address the lack of real assistance for our members who choose to become pregnant or adopt children. Once again the persistence of the APFA membership has paid off, and your efforts will benefit not only our workgroup, but all of the employees at American Airlines.
We will continue to keep you updated as we receive more details about this new program, as well as how the new Maternity/Adoption plan will work in conjunction with our collective bargaining agreement.
Kudos to you all, and keep up the good work. Your passion and dedication do you credit!
