Profit Sharing Checks to be Paid March 10th
Last week, American Airlines reported a 2016 pre-tax profit of $5.1 billion and a net profit of $3.2 billion, excluding special charges. Doug Parker announced that this would bring the total profit sharing accrued for 2016 to $314 million.
The Company set aside 5% of pre-tax net income into a pool and then took that dollar figure and divided it by the total eligible earnings of the eligible population. That determined the payout percentage of 3%. If you multiply that payout percentage of 3%* by your “eligible earnings” for 2016 you will get your profit sharing payout.
*Keep in mind, this is just an estimate. The Company is working to finalize all employees’ eligible earnings in order to correctly calculate individual payouts.
What are eligible and ineligible earnings?
Eligible:
- All Pay Hours, including Reserve Guarantee Hours
- Vacation Hours
- Sick Hours
Ineligible:
- Per Diem
- Incentive payments (Triple Play)
- Commissions (AAdvantage Cash and Barclays Crew Cash)

4th Quarter Executive Committee Meeting
All members in good standing are encouraged to attend the 4th Quarter Executive Committee meeting. It will be held at APFA Headquarters in the Unity Pays Conference room on February 1st and 2nd 0900-1700.
March Flying Improvements
Some good news on the horizon. DUB will return on the A330 beginning March 4th. We will also see a second LHR flight on the A330 beginning at the end of March.
We continue to complain about the inhumane pairings- specifically the red-eyes built into the middle of pairings. It appears the Company has finally heard us. In March, almost all of the red-eyes are stand alone, or have the red-eye as the last leg of the pairing.
Uniform Reactions
Many Flight Attendants continue to call and report uniforms issues and reactions. You must report any issues related to the uniforms to the AA uniform call center at (800) 327-0117 prompts 2, 5, 6, 1 then option 2.
We also encourage you to fill out the APFA Uniform Reaction Report.
