APFA National President Bob Ross was in Washington, DC again this week and had a busy two days. His trip included attending an event with Congressman Peter DeFazio, the ranking member on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
Throughout the evening, Bob had ample one-on-one time to discuss several issues with Mr. DeFazio including Open Skies, Norwegian Air, air traffic control privatization, Flight Attendant fatigue and the role of Flight Attendants as safety professionals. The Allied Pilots Association, representing the pilots of American Airlines, was also in attendance.
Bob was also invited to attend the US Department of Transportation’s 50th Anniversary Celebration and welcoming of the new Secretary of Transportation, Elaine Chao. Chao spoke to 250 people at the event and underscored the importance of continuing to invest in our transportation infrastructure. Also speaking were Chairman Bill Shuster of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and Senator Thune, head of the Commerce
Committee.
During the reception Bob had the opportunity to discuss the issues facing the APFA membership with FAA Administrator Michael Huerta as well as meet former Secretary of Transportation Elizabeth Dole.
