Relaxed Dress Code Announced for Non-revenue Travel – LAA/LUS
The Company announced yesterday that it will no longer adhere to a prescribed dress code for non-revenue travelers. The Non-rev Travel Guide has been updated to allow pass travelers to decide what is considered appropriate attire, so long as clothing is “neat and clean, and doesn’t offend or distract.” This policy extends to all classes of travel.
We have received questions as to what this means for deadheading crew members and Flight Attendants who non-rev on the jumpseat. The Company has confirmed that the same relaxed standards for non-rev travel in the cabin will apply to Flight Attendants who non-rev on the jumpseat. However, Section 16.E of the JCBA spells out an exception for deadheading crew members which also applies to Flight Attendants deadheading in the jumpseat:
Deadheading crew members must be in uniform or wear the normal non-revenue attire applicable to the class of service, except the Flight Attendant may not wear shorts, undershirts, or t-shirts with slogans.
APFA encourages members to use their own judgement in choosing non-rev attire that best represents our image as safety professionals when traveling in any capacity on board our aircraft.
