December is filled with holidays for all of us.
We celebrate Hanukkah for eight days, filled with tradition and the wintertime “festival of lights,” celebrated with a nightly menorah lighting, special prayers and fried foods. The Hebrew word Chanukah means “dedication,” and is thus named because it celebrates the re-dedication of the Holy Temple.
We celebrate Winter Solstice, a Druid holiday that believes the solstice marks the rebirth of the sun. …A pagan holiday marking the winter solstice with a feast.
We celebrate Kwanzaa for seven days, enriched with the values and culture that is celebrated by millions throughout the world African community. Kwanzaa brings a cultural message which speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human in the fullest sense.
We celebrate Christmas, both in the deep religious traditions, and the joy of Ole St. Nicholas.
Whatever holiday you may celebrate in the month of December we all share in the joy and happiness of family and friends.
May December fill you with love, happiness and wealth of the spirit of the holiday.
On behalf of the PHL APFA Union Office we wish you and your families all of the joy December brings!
