APFA Flight Attendant Union Opposes Elimination of Small Airport Screening
“It’s Not About Size – It’s about Safety and Security”
Euless, TX – (August 1) – The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), the Union representing 27,000 American Airlines Flight Attendants issued a statement today against a TSA proposal considering eliminating passenger screening at more than 150 small and medium-sized airports.
“We are extremely concerned about this proposal that would make our aircraft and airports easier targets for terrorism. We implore the government to continue the safeguards in place to keep our crew members and the traveling public safe,” said Lori Bassani, APFA National President. Bassani continued, “Smaller planes and airports have no bearing on the terror that an incident can inflict on our people and country. As Flight Attendants, we are aviation’s front line and expect the highest standards of safety and security from the U. S. Government.”
