Welcome to the March Base Brief. This is all pertinent information from the APR Allocation call and hot topics at the Base.
A communication reminder… text, phone, email are the preferred ways to reach ORD reps. Don’t forget to include your employee number, and let us know if you have contacted other Reps or APFA HDQ. This helps us prevent duplication of work.
Base Briefs are sent officially thru HDQ. Please encourage your fellow FAs to sign up for all APFA communications.
We know the Base is very concerned about the impact COVID-19 is having on the airline. The situation is very fluid. Know that the health and safety of our crews remains a top priority. We will continue to work with Flight Service and APFA HDQ to make sure you have the most up to date information. The APFA has retained the service of Dr. Kris Belland to represent our interests at the IATA COVID-19 Medical Conference in Singapore. Please click on the Coronavirus Update link found on the banner of the APFA website for all communications.
The National President recently launched the Power of Unity campaign. Show your support by wearing the APFA pin. You can find extra pins in our mailboxes.

— Schedule change on 4/7
— The amount of sit time built into trips has reduced, but we will continue to monitor
— Total block hours are slightly up from MAR, and down year over year. So we will see trip distribution (1-day, 2-day, 4-day) is similar to MAR.The slight increase in 3-day is driven more from increase in wide body flying.
— The ODAN volume is slightly up. The company number is based on “starts per day”.
MAR 7.6 v APR 8.2
— Total reserve has decreased
— MSP satellite hours remained similar to MAR
Please continue to provide feedback.

Early Boarding: As a reminder, Sections 11.M and 14.F of the JCBA specifically state when Flight Attendants will be required to be onboard the aircraft ready to receive passengers. Document all violations. The data will be used to support the Presidential Grievance.
Please continue to use the Scheduling System Issues Report Form on the APFA website to report TTS/ETB/ROTA issues. Our team continues to work for resolutions to violations and program fixes.
When you have a workplace issue, please make your first call for assistance to the base Professional Standards Rep. We believe the peer-to-peer approach to conflict resolution is highly effective. It is also preferable to a solution that involves management which can compound the problem.
