Vacation Option Election for Furloughed Flight Attendants
A furloughed Flight Attendant may elect to have her/his accrued/scheduled vacation paid out or carried forward for use upon return to duty per JCBA Section 23.E.

The deadline to make the selection is Friday, September 25, at 1200 (CDT). If you do not make a selection, your vacation will be carried forward. Please take a screenshot or write down your confirmation number. If you do not receive a confirmation number, your ballot did not submit correctly.
If you select to have your vacation paid out, the accrued/scheduled vacation days will be paid on your October 15 paycheck.
If you are based in LAX or SFO, and do not select to have your vacation paid out or carried forward, it will automatically be paid out per California Labor Code Section 227.3. For all other bases, if you do not select to have vacation paid out or carried forward, accrued/scheduled vacation days will be carried forward until return to duty.
If you have been on a Paid Voluntary Leave of Absence (PVLOA) and had vacation, you will have the following two options when choosing to have your vacation paid out or carried forward:
- Payout: All accrued or unused vacation will be paid out, including the days from the PVLOA on your last scheduled paycheck on October 15.
- Carry Forward: All accrued unused vacation will be carried forward and available for rebid when you return to duty. Any vacation that fell within the PVLOA will be paid out on February 15, 2021 per the terms of the leave of absence.
- Should you have your accrued/scheduled vacation paid out, you will not have any vacation to be used from May 2021 through April 2022, pending recall. Due to being active partially in 2021, you will have limited accrued vacation days to bid for May 2022 through April 2023.
- APFA and the Company have reached an agreement for those Flight Attendants with seven or more consecutive vacation days within the October bid month, and that touch both October 1 and 2. With the effective date of furlough being October 3, the days touching October 1 and 2 will be converted to Personal Days and paid at the daily rate of 4.0 hours per day. The converted days will not count towards the two (2) Personal Days per rolling twelve (12) month period per the JCBA.
