APFA is pleased to announce a new voluntary benefit that may be important to you and your family: Long-term care (LTC) insurance. ACSIA Partners, a national leader in long-term care planning, is partnering with Transamerica Insurance Company to bring you this benefit.
Protect your retirement
Long-term care insurance covers care types that are generally not covered by health insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. This coverage will help ensure you can pay for the necessary care in the event of age-related medical needs, a debilitating accident, or a disabling health condition – all while protecting your family and the assets for which you’ve worked so hard.
Advantages to considering coverage now:
- Discounted rates and portable – coverage will continue even if you move or change jobs.
- Special unisex rates
- Reduced health questions* – This is a one-time offer and is not available in the future.
APFA, ACSIA Partners, and Transamerica Insurance Company have prepared a mailing that will contain all this information. The letter will be mailed to your address on file later this week. You may also obtain more information out using one of the following contact options:

Residents of Washington state: Beginning January 1, 2022, the State of Washington will implement a new income tax to fund state-provided long-term care (LTC) benefits. APFA is offering employees an easy option for exemption from the new WA LTC payroll tax. You can entirely opt out of this tax if you secure your LTC coverage before the June 15, 2021 deadline. Please contact a representative using the options above for more information.
APFA is pleased to partner with ACSIA Partners and Transamerica Insurance Company to offer this important benefit. For more information, please reach out, and look for detailed information mailed to your home in the coming days.
*Eligibility for fewer health-related questions: Actively-at-work APFA members ages 18-65 with at least six months of service. This is a one-time opportunity available between April 15 through June 15, 2021. You will have fewer health-related questions to answer, will not have a medical exam, and most will not have to provide medical records as proof of good health. Your health can change at any time and prevent you from being able to apply in the future. Employees and their spouses who fall outside these guidelines are all eligible to apply with full medical underwriting. Please note, coverage is not guaranteed.
