November 2022 Staffing and Allocations
All,
Our headcount continues to grow as we are adding New Hire classes each week. Our total headcount is 3,189, down about 700 heads from pre-COVID levels, and up about 500 heads year-over-year. We can expect to hire through the summer of 2023, resulting from both attrition and growth.
The projected Reserve headcount for November is 530. The Reserve percentage is projected at 17.6%, down 1.2% from October with 32 less heads. The downward trend is associated with the COVID constraints being lifted and relying more on historical data. When compared to October, the system had 264 fewer Reserves. Coverage will however be increased over the Thanksgiving holiday from the 22nd through the 28th.
There will be three schedule changes in November which will drive less frequencies in some markets, and additional in others. This will result in fewer pure pairings that operate consistently throughout the month. Overall capacity will be reduced in both the Domestic and International operation.
I have received many calls and emails regarding the EZE Rocket that is planned for November. I spoke with allocations about splitting it each month with the longer layover, or alternating months. The Company is reviewing splitting the EZE Rocket in November with the longer layover. If that is not possible, then in December, EZE will have the longer layover. We are getting back the third GRU flight in December, so there could possibly be other options. My goal is to try to find a balance that works for the base. MVD was not able to be paired as a Rocket due to the departure and arrival times creating illegal layover patterns. MVD will operate a 787-8 three times a week with a 59.35 hour layover on Wednesdays and Fridays, and will operate every Sunday with 83.35 hour layover.
TLV will operate daily with a 30 hour layover on the 787-8. MAD and CDG will operate daily on the 787-8. LHR will operate two daily flights on the 777-200. BCN will operate daily on the 777-200. GIG will operate daily on the 787-9 series. GRU will operate two daily departures on both the 777-300 and 777-200.
Daily wide-body turns include HAV on the 777-200, PHX and DFW on the 787-8, and LAX on the 787-9.
JFK and PHL will not operate the 2-day 1/1 in November. LAX will operate a daily 2-day trip on the 787-8, and 787-9.
