Urgent Message to Those Laying Over in Kingston, Jamaica
All,
We are very disheartened to inform you that very recently, TWO of our MIA co-workers (on two separate occasions) were violently assaulted at the layover hotel in Kingston, Jamaica. These assaults could easily have resulted in their deaths. We cannot use strong enough words in this message. We urge you to use extreme caution when using social media, DO NOT reveal our layover hotel, DO NOT use dating apps on this layover, and NEVER allow someone you don’t know to come into the hotel. Frankly, this is a good rule of thumb on all layovers due to the trend we see in violence against crewmembers.
It is NOT an overstatement when we say this warning is a result of extreme concern for your safety and well-being. Please make sure your flying partners also heed this warning.
In Solidarity,
Randy Trautman
