3.06.24 – APFA PHL Base Brief – April 2024 Staffing and Allocations

April 2024 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Wednesday , March 6, 2024
Hello PHL,
On Sunday, we had our monthly allocations call. Here is what to expect for April bidding.
STAFFING
April will have 2,388 active Flight Attendants and preliminarily expect 1,977 lineholders and 411 reserves (Reserve percentage is 17.2% of the available headcount for PHL). The expected line average for April will be 79.7 hours. That is down slightly from 80.3. Sadly, no new hires are planned for April. Since April of last year, PHL has realized an 8% increase from 1825 lineholders in April of 2023 to 1,977 for April 2024. The average growth rate for all ten bases during this same time period is 7.3%.
We have 149,438 hours of flying planned for April. This represents a 4.7% increase over March flying.
IPD
VCE begins daily service April 6th. There will be two positioning trips for VCE departing on the 4th. One will DH over and work back, while the other trip works both directions, but will have a 49-hour RON. The second LHR started in March, and the good news is it goes to year-round service. Good news for those who like the 787, but don’t like IPD. Domestic widebody sequences have increased a bit for April. Be sure to check out the LAX turn (yes it’s a turn) and two day when bidding. There are also other turns on the 787 throughout the month.
ODAN’s
April brings an increase in ODAN flying. RDU, BOS, PIT, BDL, and IND are available to bid.
*Remember-  PBS requires 11+30 if you Waive Minimum Domicile Rest. When bidding ODANs in PBS and wanting to back them up on the same date, it is recommended to use two waivers found under the LINE TAB: Allow Multiple Pairings and Waive Minimum Domicile Rest. The first waiver allows two sequences to release and report on the same date. The second waiver reduces the amount of time free from duty (release from the first sequence to report for the second sequence) to 11:30.
PIT SATELLITE
PIT will see a slight increase in flying hours from 4,651 to 4,693.
PBS REMINDERS
The PBS dashboard has two very useful links. At the bottom of the page, the first link takes you directly to the PBS guide to answer questions when bidding. The second link takes you to the support tab for assistance with PBS. Also, on 29FEB the company updated the aircraft list in PBS.
*If you use PREFER/AVOID AIRCRAFT in your standing bid, you will need to go into your standing bid and re-add this property for April.
