Remembering Flight Attendant Steve Wilson

August 20, 1966 – June 25, 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Steve Wilson. Our base has lost a friend and a true unionist. Steve was a Flight Attendant for 35 years and the ORD Vice Chair from the late 90s to 2003. Liz Mallon, our then ORD Chair, affectionately called him her ‘cleanup man.’ He had a penchant for resolving disputes. He could stroll into Flight Service and mend broken fences. He was smart, charming, kind, and non-judgmental. You wanted Steve to fight alongside you and support you. He brought a well-rounded approach to representing our base.
Steve was also based in Miami and was there for the 1993 strike. He was Union to the core. In 2000, he was essential in organizing potential strike efforts at ORD during our contract negotiations, resulting in our 2001 contract. Steve’s unyielding work ethic and strong leadership skills made him the perfect strike leader.
Steve found a life partner in his wife Heather and is survived by their two children, Ian and Marian. If you knew Steve, you knew him to be kind, funny, easy-going, and fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
