We’ve heard from many of you regarding the types of flying you’d like to see added to the base. Your feedback, including requests for additional ODANS, morning and afternoon one-day turns ( OKC, CHS, SAV, BOS, LGA, PIT), and two-day sequences with East Coast layovers, has been shared with the allocation scheduling department. We’ve also heard that the LAX high-time turns are premium and would like to see those returned.

Unfortunately, these specific requests were not included in our current bid packet. However, we have sent the feedback again in hopes that the optimizer can accommodate these preferences in future builds. Balancing the available hours while addressing everyone’s requests is challenging, but we remain committed to advocating for the flying you want. Please keep sharing your feedback; it’s invaluable in shaping our schedule!

January 2025 Bidding Timelines

January 2025 System Reserve Seniority

Congratulations Classes 24-11 and 24-12
You are officially off probation!

We have 2 more off probation classes in December to wind up the 2024 new hire groups! We look forward to the new hire program in 2025!

Class 24-11

Class 24-12

Widebody RBEST

Widebody RBEST training is winding down. DCA still has around 30 Flight Attendants still not qualified on the B787.

RBEST training bids are open for January 2025 until December 6, 2024.

As we promised the base, per your request, we filed a dispute on the handling of the IAD parking permits. The Notice of Dispute (NOD) 24-11 will be presented this month at the base level and if we cannot settle the dispute the NOD will be sent to the APFA grievance department for further review and possible next level of the process.

C Concourse Crew Room

The company has informed us that the AA property management at DCA has repurposed the crew room in the C concourse (formally the center pier) to allow AA’s admin team to move in utilizing the office area. The back area will still be used by our crews for the purpose of resting and using the company computers. The base will be putting out a formal CCI message. The entry door code at this time will remain the same.

In January, the Company will remove all Flight Attendant mailboxes from the crew rooms, If you have not checked your mailbox, and still have personal items there, please take the opportunity to retrieve them before the mailboxes are removed.

As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on a year filled with both challenges and accomplishments. It has been a long journey toward finalizing our new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the company and the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA). I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your unwavering dedication and hard work.

Your commitment has been evident in many ways—whether it was attending picketing events, participating in terminal walks, navigating weather disruptions, addressing hotel issues, or managing scheduling challenges. Every day, you exemplify what it means to be a professional flight attendant, and we are truly honored to represent you.

We would also like to express our gratitude to all of our Base Council Representatives, our Contract ACTION Team (CAT), and our Professional Standards and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) representatives for their hard work and commitment to serving you, the DCA Flight Attendants.

This year brought its share of victories and setbacks, but together, we made it through. As we look ahead, we wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season and a prosperous new year!

Thank you for everything, and as always, fly safe.

In Solidarity,
