APFA DCA Members,

Since the signing of our new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), we’ve heard positive feedback about the improved contract. We’re working diligently on the implementation timeline and ensured that retroactive pay was distributed on time, allowing you and your families to enjoy those funds during the holidays.

We remain committed to serving every Member without exception. You asked for a contract with livable wages and enhanced work rules, and thanks to the dedication of our Negotiating Committee—and your support as Members—we achieved those goals.

However, we’ve now reached a turning point. While the new CBA brings well-deserved wage increases, our Union has not adjusted member dues since 2001, despite substantial changes in the cost of living and inflation. Over that time, wages have increased by as much as 81%, yet our monthly dues have remained unchanged.

As a medium-sized base, we face unique budgetary constraints. While our council works tirelessly to provide you with the representation and services you deserve as APFA Flight Attendants, the reality is that without a dues increase, we may face difficult budgetary cuts to stay within the boundaries of the base budget. This could impact the availability and scope of the services you rely on.

We are deeply committed to ensuring that no member at DCA lacks full representation or the ability to address and defend against grievances or other workplace issues. However, to continue providing this level of service—both at the local base level and across the Union as a whole—we need your support for this dues increase.

The APFA Board of Directors has thoroughly reviewed all financial policies and implemented significant cost-saving measures to improve the Union’s financial health. While these efforts have helped, cost savings alone can only go so far. Without considering a dues increase, we will struggle to maintain the level of service you deserve and expect.

Adequate funding is essential for our ability to operate 24/7, provide the resources you count on, and incorporate others into leadership and support roles.
