Remembering Ralph Huerta

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of PHX Flight Attendant Ralph Huerta early this morning.

Ralph began his career with America West Airlines in May 1987. Known for his love of music, he was a gifted musician, often bringing his guitar to work. He would spend hours in the crew room, softly playing it.

In the early 2000s, Ralph began his Union advocacy as a Grievance Representative for AFA. He continued to represent and fight for Flight Attendants until late 2022 when he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and brain cancer. Even after his diagnosis, he remained committed and contributed as a Base Council Representative in virtual meetings. Everyone who worked with him respected his kindness, professionalism, and quiet dignity.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife Lydia, daughter Natalie, son-in-law Jeffrey, and three grandchildren: Gavin, Jeffrey, and McKenna.
