Representation &
Communication in New York

New York Base Communication Platforms
We have a plan to ensure clear and consistent communication with the base. We will publish an official base brief recapping current events and base-related matters each month, with additional briefs as needed, which might include updates on current events.
By the 5th of each month, we will share the staffing and allocation forecasts through our private Facebook group and Instagram account. We aim to create a more engaging product without the Association’s policies’ constraints, which require specific guidelines meant to protect APFA from liability. While we make a responsible product, we will add a personal touch that members can look forward to every month when we prepare for bidding. This personal touch is what makes us a community, and we hope it will make you feel more connected.
You can expect simplified official staffing/allocations forecast via an official base brief containing the same essential information. Our goal is to ensure that critical information remains accessible to our members while keeping members engaged with our style.
We invite your feedback as we prepare to release our first forecasts for the June bid month on or before May 5, 2025. As we progress with our initiatives as officers, your input will help us decide whether to continue, adjust, or discontinue our efforts. Additionally, we will periodically survey the community to ensure that we provide services tailored to the specific needs of our Union members. Your feedback will be carefully considered and directly influence our decisions and services.
Requesting Union Representation
[email protected], [email protected]
To request Union representation for a meeting with management, please email us at [email protected]. After receiving your request, we’ll send you a PDF titled “Authorization to Represent” to complete, sign, and return. We will also ask you to provide a MyView record related to the Attendance or Performance meeting. Our response will outline our representation process and what to expect next. We serve nearly 3,400 members with limited staff, so we appreciate your patience. Review our communication carefully to avoid confusion.
All meeting requests from management should be in your official company email, and you can forward this meeting appointment directly to our base admin email when requesting representation.
Please give at least 48 hours or two business days’ notice to accommodate all requests. We set our agenda every Friday based on availability, and if you miss this timeline, we may need to ask you to reschedule. If you cannot reschedule, we will always work with you to ensure you have representation.
Please do not text requests or send personal documents via text. If you text us to request representation, we will respond with instructions to our base admin email to ensure we protect your privacy. When you communicate with APFA, it is preferred that members do so using their personal email accounts. Please follow up if you do not receive a response from our base admin email after 24 hours.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Filing Disputes
Whenever you need to file a dispute, we ask that you email us using the base admin email, [email protected] or [email protected]. Â Please provide us with as much information as possible regarding your dispute. We will acknowledge your request and include an Authorization to Represent form for you to complete, sign, and return to us. We will also attach a brief explanation of how the dispute process works. Disputes are not just the responsibility of the representative who files on your behalf but also your responsibility. The ideal process per the contract is 30 days; however, depending on the type of dispute and circumstances, that can change, and you can keep your dispute ongoing. If you have any questions, please ask the representative who files the dispute on your behalf. We encourage members to always inquire about the status of their dispute, and if you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email the base president directly.
Feedback
We ask that members provide feedback on any improvements you’d like to see in any part of what we do on your behalf. We are restoring a drop box outside the JFK APFA office, where you can leave documents in a locked, secure box. You can also email us directly or leave us a voice message if you’d like to discuss your feedback with one of the officers.
We thank you for any feedback you provide us.
