June 2025 PHL Staffing and Allocations
Tuesday, May 6, 2025
Hello PHL,Our Allocations call was held Saturday, May 3rd.
June is just a couple weeks away and marks the continuation of summer flying and increased NIPD flying, as well as the return of CPH!
June 5th is the official date of a major schedule change. Our flying has increased this month by 4,696 hours, but there are cuts in the banks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays systemwide.
Special events in June include:
- 01Jun-03Jun; 05Jun-07Jun
- Walmart Shareholder’s Meeting – XNA
- 12Jun-16Jun
- Formula 1 – YUL
- 13Jun-23Jun
- NCAA College Baseball World Series – OMA
- 26Jun-28Jun
- Music Festival – SKB
All of this is ramping up to our peak summer schedule in July. Please remember that the critical period to earn a banked point is July 1-7. Keep that in mind when bidding carry over trips in June as those trips will lead into the critical period in July.
NEW HIRE CLASSES FOR 2025
PHL has 31 new hires joining us in June and they will be here in time to bid in PBS. That means they will be included in the reserve numbers. This brings our year-to-date total to 312! Make sure to give them a warm Philly welcome when you see them on the line. 😎
RESERVES
Unfortunately, the increased summer flying and number of scheduled vacations brings higher reserve numbers. The number of projected reserves jumps from 509 in May to 572 in June. The systemwide average is projected to be 23.0%. PHL is projected to be at 21.1%, up from 20.4% in June of last year.
STAFFING
June’s monthly line average is projected to be 81.5 hours, up from 79.1 hours in May. Systemwide, the line average is projected to be 80.6 hours, up from 78.4 in May.
There will be no Voluntary Leaves of Absence (VLOAs) offered for June.

We have an increase in NIPD flying. There are some layovers we haven’t seen in a while! RON’s include ANU, BOG, GDL, MDE, MGA, POS, SAL, SAP, STI, AND SJO.
DOMESTIC WIDEBODY FLYING
There will be the 2-day DFW sequences that operate June 6th-July 1st. We also have a number of 1-day and 2-day trips with mixed equipment– both wide body and narrow body.  Please keep an eye on that.

- Every month the PBS Cover Sheet  is included in the bid packets found on the Crew Planning page via Crew Portal. The cover sheet contains answers to many frequently asked questions, such as:
- Phone numbers
- Charts for duty and layover requirements
- Bidding timelines
- Links to the PBS guide and other pertinent information.
The cover sheet can be accessed via Crew Portal > Departments > Crew Planning > PBS Cover Sheet. A good practice to start is saving a copy of this to your device or EFB every month.
