5.15.25 – APFA LGA Base Brief – Important Updates Regarding JFK Employee Lot 10 Transportation

Thursday, May 15, 2025

To All Flight Attendants in New York,

We have received multiple reports regarding issues with the transportation buses from JFK Employee Lot 10 to the terminal. APFA recognizes that working with contracted vendors can sometimes delay resolving issues. However, this situation has already caused injuries to Flight Attendants. It poses a serious risk to all Flight Attendants who utilize this employee lot and rely on these transportation services to reach the terminal and report to duty on time. Although our discussions have been productive, the problems continue to persist. Therefore, I must take the necessary steps to ensure that Flight Attendants in New York are not harmed by simply trying to get to work.

Safety Issues Documented and Reported to Management:

  • Flight Attendants are experiencing falls and injuries.
  • Crew members are riding the bus with luggage piled on seats and laps.
  • Flight Attendants are falling backwards as they try to climb the steep stairs of these buses.
  • Flight Attendants are experiencing mental distress due to the uncertainty surrounding this issue.

To address this matter, I am filing a Base Notice of Dispute with management today and filing a complaint with the Department of Transportation. While we work through this process, which I expect to be expedited, I am requesting that all Flight Attendants in New York follow these guidelines when using JFK Employee Lot 10 until further notice:

  • Please note your arrival time when you arrive at JFK Employee Lot 10 for your scheduled duty.
  • Wait for a regular-sized bus to arrive for transportation to the terminal.
  • If a small bus, which is not equipped for Flight Attendants, arrives, please note the time and wait for the regular-sized bus. Regardless of your sign-in time, DO NOT board the small buses.
  • If you receive a Late Report, TM – Missed Trip, FA4 – Late to Gate, or any of the other infractions on our list, please email your Attendance Manager with an explanation and a request for the removal of the infraction, along with complete pay protection for your pairing. Be sure to copy me using [email protected]. This will prompt me to file an Individual NOD to protect your attendance and pay.

If you have any questions or concerns, please send them directly to my email: [email protected]

Please fly safely and take care of one another.
