July Incentive Point / Critical Period
July 1 – July 7

During the July Critical Period, which is from July 1 to July 7, if you complete all operational assignments (sequences, airport standby assignments, Reserve Availability Periods (RAPs), and special assignments) without any absences or removals (such as Sick, FMLA, Jury Duty, Military, Personal, Bereavement, etc.), including pre-planned absences and removals, you will earn one (1) incentive point. These incentive points will help reduce future point-generating dependability events.

You can earn up to three (3) incentive points per year, and there is no limit on the total number of incentive points you can accumulate, and they do not expire.

DCA Flight Attendant Aircraft Qualifications

  • B787: 819 FA’s qualified
  • B777: 823 FA’S qualified
  • B737: 824 FA’s qualified
  • A320 series: 824 FA’s qualified

Of course, we have been asking for IPD flying for those of you who are interested since the base is almost fully trained on widebody aircraft. I know it’s a wish list, but we will keep pushing!

2025-26 CQ Module Update

Many of you have sent over to APFA documentation on the amount of time it took to complete the modules for your annual CQT. With that information, APFA was successful in asking the company to take another look at the training material in these modules and management has removed some content from the 2025–2026 CQ WBT. APFA will ensure that these changes comply with the contract language. For Flight Attendants who completed the 2025–26 CQ modules prior to this update, we will be addressing the extended completion timeframe with management.

BWI Parking

It is that time of year to sign up for BWI crew parking. The current parking hang tags will expire June 30, 2025. I was recently informed that the company will limit the number of tags that are processed, like the contract violation last fall with the IAD parking debacle.

I will be meeting with the company about what this looks like and will insist that the contract not be violated.

A notice of dispute (NOD)was filed last year siting contract violations with IAD parking permits, this NOD is going through the stages of the grievance department, and we are awaiting the next step in the process.
We will not accept anything less than following the contract pertaining to co- terminal parking.

You can read the contract language in Section 4 – Expenses of the CBA.

Inflight Management Structure Changes

As many of you may have heard the inflight management structure as we know it will be changing on June 9. The APFA board of directors met with Bobbi Wells and her team at the end of May to gain a better understanding of these upcoming changes and at that time we were informed that the company was still finalizing the details.

With June 9th quickly approaching, we are still waiting for official communication from the company regarding what the DCA inflight structure will look like, what we do know at this point is that there will be separate performance and attendance manager. We will provide more information and address any questions once the company releases its formal communication.

Employee Lot Security

Cameras in the employee parking lot – most recently it was brought to our attention that the employee parking lot does not have security cameras monitoring the lot itself but has cameras that are focused on the runway. This is a contradiction to what we were told last summer. We recently raised this concern again with the AA base leadership and the AA airport management. The busy summer season is upon us and the allowance of ride share drivers and others to be in the employee lot is unacceptable. The lot should be secured and only employees should be allowed there. Safety and Security should be the top priority.

Local APFA and local Government Affairs will continue to advocate for a safe place, working with other unions and work groups will also benefit us.
