6.09.25 – APFA DFW Base Brief – Monday, June 9, 2025

Monday, June 9, 2025
Hello DFW,
As many of you have heard, American Airlines is rolling out a new leadership structure within Inflight. While management has said this is about improving support for Flight Attendants, we’ve made it clear that talk is cheap without follow-through. Your APFA DFW leadership team met with management last Friday and we delivered a strong, unified message: any change that does not benefit our Flight Attendants will not be accepted.
We were assured that this transition is meant to increase presence in the terminals, improve support at the gates, and ensure that those in leadership positions are truly there to serve, not police, our crews. We intend to hold them to that promise.
This week, your APFA DFW team will be in the terminals , answering your questions, and handing out our blue APFA lanyards and union pins. Say hi! We’ll be easy to spot , just look for the blue lanyards.
Here’s what you need to know about the new structure:
- Sr. Crew Managers will now be your primary point of contact for day-to-day concerns not related to performance or attendance. They’re supposed to be present in the terminals and at the gates , not behind desks.
- Inflight Operational Coordinators (formerly MODs) will also be in the field to help with issues as they arise.
- Crew Performance Managers (CPMs) will now handle all performance-related matters.
- Crew Attendance Managers (CAMs) remain responsible for sick leave, FMLA, IODs, maternity, and any type of leave or attendance-related policy.
We were told these changes are not about discipline , and we will be watching closely to ensure that’s true. Managers roaming the airport to issue discipline or micromanage crews will not be acceptable.
Please keep documenting everything. If you feel unsupported, dismissed, or if something seems off, contact your DFW base reps right away. Â ([email protected]) The way we hold management accountable is by tracking their actions , not just their words.
This restructuring is still new, and some things may be unclear. We’re here to guide you through it. In the meantime, stay alert, stay up to date , stay informed, and don’t hesitate to speak up.
We’re here for you!
